Oh yes, it’s A LOT of work! ย I’m having fun talking to the local businesses and they seem very excited to help us out as a sponsor and also give us raffle donation. ย I hope you can come after the event and find all the caches! ย The first 250 teams that find all 25 and complete their booklet will receive a coin. ย I think it’s a nice coin ๐ ย I hope we get a good turnout too, thank you ๐
We raised enough money for 250 Trackable Coins for the first 250 teams that complete 25 points.ย Either by finding all the Geocaches OR you have the option to buy a meal at one of our restaurant Sponsors.ย Each restaurant has a good variety of food.ย We will have menus at the event.ย Prices vary too.For the raffles we have a nice variety of prizes.ย The top prize is a one night stay at the Pine Terrace Bed and Breakfast.ย Sherper’s donated $250.00 in a variety of gift cards.ย And area businesses have donated gift cards and baskets. Here is the Event Page for the Oconomowoc Area Historical Tour. ย It has been updated. ย If anyone has any suggestions or would like to help out, that would be great ๐
This was our 4th year at the Cache Bash. We brought 5 extra teams, including a few newbies.
We registered around 1:30 with no lines or problems at all. I did have a friend complain about her goodie bag that she didn’t receive all the “extras” and she was disappointed.
Overall we all had a great time with Geocaching and the locations. All the vendors were very nice and helpful.
A HUGE thank you for having bikes available for the Eisenbahn Trail, that was great, especially for me ๐
Besides Geocaching, we had a blast with the Photo Scavenger Hunt !!
Thank you to all the volunteers. We’re all looking forward to next year’s Cache Ba$h.
We had a great time finding these today. We found a total of 11. We turned the pins in and received a t-shirt and passes and gift certificates for around the Milwaukee area. It was a great promotion ๐
I’m sorry to read this. I just found out that we’ll be in town this weekend and I wanted to sign up to volunteer. If by chance you hear anything and it’s “on”, please let me know and we’ll be down there to help out.

GC1ZQ3T Battleship – F2 – Another great view of the lake behind the Marcus Amphitheater
GC13XF3 Aqua Spot – Could have been an interesting earth cache. Great info here at this watershed exhibit.
GC137JG Gertie and the Bridge War – Gertie likes visitors
GC9EED The Joan of Arc Chapel – Virtual cache. Really old history on the Marquette campus. Touch the stone.
GC2BPCQ ZH53233-01 City Of Milwaukee – Easy find. Challenging retrieval in an urban environment.
GC3798 Covert Cache
GC1FGFC Letters carried to the Fonz
We did these on a Sunday afternoon with 6 kids. Our favorites were Covert Cache (we dropped a few TB’s) and also Letters carried to the Fonz.
The kids learned a LOT of history at the St. Joan of Arc chapel and enjoyed the tour.
We couldn’t find Gertie, but will be back to find that one.
We also did these downtown too:
GC139EV Pere Rocks!
GC1X6X4 LLMTL
As for cheese curds, a few of my out of town friends buy their cheese at the Wisconsin Cheese Mart when we’re downtown Milwaukee. We just load up the coolers.

We found one this morning in Hales Corners Park after my kids doctor’s appointments. It was a drive, but it was worth it when my youngest found it. We’re looking forward to going to the museum next week.

I found one of the frogs hidden for today. You must be FTF because the frog is the cache. I will let everyone know what the prize is when I redeem it. ๐
Congratulations! I was hoping to go out this morning, but was too tired to drive that far.
I just read this in our newspaper (Oconomowoc Focus) this evening, very nice article ๐
My daughter collects erasers and bracelets. My youngest son collects bottle caps, pins and shot gun shells (I don’t know why), my oldest son coins.
My boys don’t want their matchbox cars anymore so we’ve been putting them in all the containers they can fit in. We have 100+ to place. We have tons of toys, mostly new, that the kids are giving up (thank goodness – especially the McDonalds toys) ๐
Thanks for posting the article, it was a fun interview. We had him find the “Imagination Station” cache, he had trouble finding it, my youngest had to help him after a while.
My kids and I were telling him about one of our favorites “Belly of the Beast” and what we went through to try to find it after 4 attempts – LOL Even after the email hint from Gary, it still took us a few more times, I can’t even post the places where we ended up before we “got it”, it’s quite comical.
I don’t know what we would do without Bill’s help too on a few, okay several caches, thank you. We’re hoping to find WP2 at “Old Tower” this weekend.
My daughter’s class will be Geocaching in October for part of their Social Studies class, she’s so excited. I’ll be helping out on all the outings.
Since we cache as a family we decided to use our last name. We all enjoy the music of Rush, especially their 2112 album, so we added that and it was shorter than the rest of their albums. (I wanted something with Styx, but I was out-voted) ๐
I would like to thank those that put today’s event together, we appeciate it. We had quite a few questions and they were all answered. Everyone was very helpful and went above and beyond. The kids were excited with their treasures/trades they received from fellow Geocachers, it means a lot to them.
Thank you ๐
Wow, sorry to hear that people complained, very sad. We thought the game was fun and fair. My 3 kids and I played the game and had fun. Once my daughter and son won, they didn’t play anymore. My other son just tried 2 times, but still had fun.
If you’re doing this game next year, please don’t change anything. The board was cut perfect, the value of the prizes and the distance were fair. My kids are ages 9-14 and agreed with this.
This was our first year to an event, now knowing what goes on and meeting many people, we would like to volunteer next year ๐
