Just joining the 1K club myself I can actually relate to your accomplishment.

    way to go!!

Wow, thankx everyone! I sure had fun with that first 1K and don’t plan on stopping any time soon. I didn’t race to it like a finish line but took my time choosing my adventures instead of just hitting easy #’s. If I counted right it took me about 509 days to find 1000 with out a GPS, I had found many more than that with my dad, but we used the unit so Muggle B doesn’t count them.

heres some stats of my first K.

    Traditional 600
    Puzzle 270
    Multi 101
    Virtual 11
    Earthcache 10
    Letterbox hybrid 4
    Event 3
    CITO 1
    Total 1000

137 caches on the LCG for a total of 1716 points
25 caches that had gone 1 year or longer since the last finder.
    8 FTF’s and a handful of co-FTF’s
    14 placed and 8 adopted (22 owned)
Caches found in 3 states, and over 20 WI counties.
248 out of 366 days filled on my grid
I probably ran into about 20-25 cachers randomly on the trail, some of them more than once.

Ill still be going GPS less, its not that hard if you can relate maps to your surroundings, except deep in the woods, those still give me a real rough time. Now that I have a smartphone mapping in the field is a real time saver, my first 500 was without and on top of being new to the hobby I did a lot of digging around and wandering and back and forth driving, but It was the most fun I had in a long time.

A big thank you to all the owners of caches, without you Id have nothing to find.

now im off to find 2000!

Congrats man! Today must have been the day to snag #1000, I got my 1K today also (havn’t logged it yet)

So now we know what 1K is like.

Sounds like you and the group had a good time.

    again, Congrats!

When you first mentioned the jelly fish I figured you were talking about bryozoans, but after a little research I was very surprised to find out there are real jellies here in WI!!

One of the coolest milestone finds Ive heard of, Way to Go!!!

in reply to: Hows your geosense? #1952823

won’t bug me a bit, go for it!!

in reply to: Logging own caches #1951958

I recently seen a cache publish and was adopted out 1 week later, the old CO had it logged as found that day, they were only the 5th finder.

I guess they like going out and finding nothing, not geocaching IMO, but if its “fun” for them so be it.

kinda lame if you ask me, to each their own.

    in reply to: Challenges #1952164

In the video did you see the first kids reaction when he asked him how he thought of his first challenge.

LOL, in the most boring drawn out voice he said “awesome”

just by the kids reaction I think its a flop

    in reply to: Challenges #1952060

I got a challenge for you, I hid a container somewhere deep in a woods, I posted cords on the internet, your challenge is to find this container and sign the piece of paper inside, thus proving you were there.
    Youve been challenged!!

I think this should have been added to the WAYMARKING page. not geocaching

“people started placing virtuals everywhere, so we stopped them” What!!! and this is better?

I think id rather go find a bunch of residential neighborhood caches and roundabouts, those sound funner right now.

(I feel like Tosh.0 with his 20 second bashes)

I know your discover lots of TB’s and coins.

any chance you know how many you have discovered in this time? 1000? more? less?

    inquiring minds want to know!!

in reply to: Muggle B Has a Consulation for #900 #1951285

Thankx everyone! I enjoy finding them, and im glad some of you can get some enjoyment out of me finding them also.

I can’t believe 1K is in my sights!! Im super excited for that myself.

Its nice to see you make this sport a whole family affair. Congrats on 2K

in reply to: QR codes: Are they allowed #1951055

Ive seen both. They can’t expect people to own cameras for ALR’s but smartphones must be cheaper because they accept them?

in reply to: lightning ball? #1950257

as bright as that ball was flying by me, I can barely see the light way down the trail.

Way to go on an impressive month HP2 and here I thought maybe I could get 1st place this month like I did exactly a year ago. Boy was I wrong.

Im content holding 2nd place for the year, because we all know 2nd place after the puffins is like being in first place, kinda like a FAD

congrats on your almost 500pt month!

I just realized that you have only been caching since Jan 09

thats an amazing # of finds in that short of time! About 161 caches per month every month for 31 months straight

    way to go you bloodhound!!
