If you come across a sitemap generator for the CMS, and the forums you use, you could head over to http://www.google.com/webmasters/ verify you are the webmaster, and submit the sitemap to be directly and indirectly (crawled) by the Google index bot. You will have full control of the indexed pages for this site in the control panel where you can remove directories, URL’s, and change the speed of Google’s crawl rate in addition to some analytical information like searched keywords. It gets you indexed very fast, good stuff!

Menard’s carries a generic recharcheable brand called North Tech. A 4 pack of 2000 mAh NIMH AA’s are around $5.50. The AAA’s are 1000 mAh NIMH and are the same price. They are pre-charged out of the box, though I would suggest giving them a full charge anyhow. These batteries are amazing and the North Tech’s are all I buy, with the exception of non-recharcheable batteries. I have never used one of those 15 or 30 minute charging units, so your experience may vary with quick charging using your devices. I am kinda old schooled with the 24 hour charger I have at home.

After visiting a few sites, including WikiPedia, I bet you are right. I plan on making another visit shortly to see if it is still there. If it is gone, I will assume it is a slug. I should mention that there is a hole on the top, which coincides with some families, including the trivia fact that the internal organs of slugs are all at 180 degrees and some contain an internal shell which I discovered while investigating. Thanks!

Take a breather! I know how frustrating it can be taking over an integrated software environment and re-build, & re-shape it. This can make for little sleep and not to mention add stress to your already busy days. It looks like you are making a lot of progress and I am certain the transition will smooth out and return to normal in the days ahead.

Thank you for all of your hard work!

I have 14 years of Unix administration experience if you get stuck somewhere. No matter how much experience one may have, we all need questions answered and look to seek help in one way or another. freenode is a great resource. http://freenode.net and you can use my web portal at http://chat.geojoin.net You are welcome to e-mail myself. I believe you have my contact information.

RSS Feeds are broken. BBCode for URL’s in signatures doesn’t seem to be working any longer. Might want to have MySQL listen on the loopback interface (lo) 127.0.0.1 as it is wide open on your static IP which is a security hazard/nightmare. Would also suggest moving SSH to a non-default port. Don’t slap me too hard! 😳

Here is some follow up and reference information:

I have 13 years of Unix administration experience and my college education is in computer network administration.

The dedicated server host is running Redhat Enterprise 5.5 (centos). The host services include a small load and lightweight build of MySQL for Syslog facilities, NTP in which I donate to pool.ntp.org.

I separate services and resources using VMWARE ESX Server. I have 3 virtual machines running on the host. Two VM’s are FreeBSD, and one is Ubuntu Server.

One FreeBSD VM is a personal machine. The second FreeBSD host is the backbone for all the physical and virtual hosts. This VM handles DNS, Mail, high demand SQL resources, Courier-IMAP, and its related service inclusions. The MTA is Postfix using two milters: greylist-milter and Spamassassin. The hostname is “extserver.com” and the IP does reverse if you wish to do an investigation.

The Ubuntu Server machine is a user based web services environment. The webserver is “lighttpd” using fast-cgi for PHP, Perl, and Python. I do not use Apache so all .htaccess is done by hand. Lighttpd is a very high performance web server for high demand and high load sites used by services such as YouTube, wikipedia, meebo, and of course I use it for “my content”.

The Ubuntu Server VM is also a backup MTA (fallback) server for extserver.com using again Postfix. FTP services for this host are provided by VSFTPD (very secure FTP) and is SSL enabled. You may reference extprovider.com, extprovider-e-e0-e100.extprovider.com again both domains are reversible by IP resolution.

I own 7 static IP addresses. I am not willing to discuss the mappings for them all. If WGA needs a private IP, a static IP is priced at $1.00 per month. Otherwise, I am willing to provide a domain and subdomain that points to extprovider-e-e0-e100.extprovider.com at which most of my websites are pointed too.

I do not use or offer a control panel. I am not willing to offer SSH access, but I am willing to work directly with your administrators for all needs that can not be accomplished using the above resource access methods.

I am willing to donate your needed resources free of charge unless additional expenses are involved such as a private IP for WGA, and etc..

    Cheers!

    I own a dedicated server: Xeon 64 bit, 4 processors @2.4GHz, 4GB RAM, HD1 250GB, HD2 500GB, 100mbit unregulated and unmetered interface.

It is mostly a personal server running a few of my sites and miscellaneous mail services.

Any resources that may be needed off the VPS load and onto a enterprise class dedicated?

    in reply to: Garmin & Opencaching.com #1938978

    from my blog: [here]

Garmin is secretly developing a website OpenCaching.com which currently holds the statement “your caches, your devices, your community”.

I am very weary about the development of a so called ‘open’ Geocaching community or content website sponsored by a for profit GPS hardware technology company.

Too much is too bad. Who comes to our needed responsibility consideration and response of Geocache placement and community communications when it comes to need of an official forums for questions, comments, and concerns for Geocaching activities in all of our communities? Groundspeak may look like it is loosing a foot hold on responsible social Geocaching as a hobby and is being stripped of its soul purpose of a global presence for our beloved passion by a for profit company in which its primary focus, outlook, and goal is for profit and the company success.

Their are alternative “Open Geocaching” websites revealing themselves on the Internet periodically. Though the passion and drive of the organizational alternatives of these is not of a commercial nature and is rather for the benefit of the Geocaching community.

We have yet to see what OpenCaching.com will bring to Geocachers, Geocaching, and quite possibly only their customer base. I have a bad feeling about this one Garmin.

I have been using myside for years on my Blog. Kinda how my content comes out my side. Or in this case, their might be a Geocache on myside. 😀

    in reply to: Blogging???? #1909736

I merged geo-jots.com, my cache blog into myspew.com, my primary blog. I am not sure what I was thinking dividing up my life and Geocaching, since they go hand in hand.

I added everyone in this thread to http://myspew.com If you just want the outdoors/geocaching category, the url is http://myspew.com/journeys

    Take care folks.
