I use Waze which I have set as my default app in my c:geo caching app.
Oftentimes I manually set a waypoint for Parking to navigate to so Waze doesn’t try to route me some funky unreachable spot nearby (oppposite side of lake or freeway).
Got 2 more counties that need a new cache dur to archival:
Kewaunee – no longer GCGP9T Up the River
Barron – no longer GCH304 Tuscobia Trail Cache
Unseasonable 54 sunny degrees here in Milwaukee today so I got the geo bike out for one last ride of the year to grab my nearest mystery puzzle cache. Weather guessers can’t decide yet if will be mainly a rain event or 6″ of wet heavy snow this weekend. Winter is finally arriving to our corner of the state.
I’m bummed that GeoLiveStrong’s GC3WMX0 Public Lands Challenge was archived – can’t do a challenge like that anymore. Has to be one of my top 5 favorite WI challenges.
I’d prefer spring picnic and fall camping. Fall is typically drier for camping.
There’s a primary election happening in Wisconsin today, so I’ll be going out to vote today.
A poll worker gave my rambunctious 9 year old son a sample ballot to fill out while I filled out my paper ballot after he attacked the scanner for the 3rd time. He voted across all party lines and mostly write ins.
A lot of walking for the West Bend Cash Bash caches this year as my team members’ fitbits recorded 23 miles/50K steps over 2 days for 42 of 50 caches, primarily on the Ice Age Trail and in a couple of county parks.
I need caches starting with 0 and 9 and cachers starting with 0, 1, 5, 7 – 9 and Q It was pretty sparse out in southern Oregon.

I still need 5,8,9 cachers too.
I was down to my last couple of WI virtuals away from completing kungfuhippie’s GC2T5CD Wisconsin’s Virtual Challenge last fall, when a dozen or so more new virtuals started popping up like dandelions…
Bring back webcams too!
Got back late last night from North America’s first giga event. They had geocaches there!
Yup I cleaned out southern Ohio on challenge caches, surprised not to see your name John on the logs. Made a small dent on the Highway 127 Longest Power Trail, which follows the 875 mile long US Hwy 127 from Michigan to Alabama and hosts the World’s Largest Yard Sale in August.
Always great to travel a half day to meet up with a dozen Badger cachers. And yes, John has the great pics.
I second Hack1of2 choices of Cachly (iphone) and c:geo (Android) as the best of breed.
One word of caution: these apps can use up a lot of data on the fly, so I recommend that you store the caches offline first using wi-fi if possible.
The snow melted just in time over these past 3 days for CITO Sunday here in Milwaukee.
From the logs and FB posts, it seems to take most groups at least 8 to 9.5 hours and 12.5 miles of walking to complete the series of 30 caches. Lots of favorite points so far!
The CITO comment was sort of a joke on how, as new announcements are made, it’s harder to see older ones. Depending on screen size, the COTM & POTM announcements bumped the CITO announcement down far enough that unless someone scrolls to be reminded of it, it can be missed. It’ll only take one or two more announcements for the POTM announcement to get bumped down. I’ve already checked out the upcoming CITO events, BTW, and am bummed that the closest one to me, the Hack/Wisjanine event, is at a day & time I can’t go. Kim made it sound really fun when I talked to her at the Chili event, but I’ve got a ticket to that day’s Brewers game. And, it’s Eric Thames bobblehead day. So, the closest I can get to practicing CITO that day is if I do the Earthcache near the one parking lot, and make sure any garbage accumulated throughout the game is properly disposed of.
Well you’re in luck since there is another CITO in the Milwaukee area the following Saturday April 28th at Mukwonago County Park.
