Now I need to include the phone number for the contact person at the Forest Service in the EC description. An alternative was the person’s name, but the email came from “Service Desk”

Where SW? Trekkinās going ice cave hunting, Iām at yoga most of the day. Bummer!
We have an outside chance of hitting 60 any day in the next 10. Sure aren’t any geotrails to follow!

Re: my earthcache.
Land is owned by USFS. A guy I work with owns a sliver of the eastern edge of the lava flow. He tipped me off to the Forest Service. Couldn’t track down which office was responsible so I used the countywide webpage to submit a request. They came back with “no permission needed” so I resubmitted with a “thank you” to them at the end (above the WGA banner) and a note to the reviewer saying USFS says it is ok. No word back yet.
I also tried to get an EC for here in town, but it was judged to be a good hydro- lesson and not enough geo- in it.
I have 9 preps in 6 class periods this semester. Not sure when I will find time to rewrite that one, but I found some good source material to pull info from. Sure isn’t much written about the nonvolcanic land around here! The best sig is no sig.
Or not. I just spent like forever checking to see if we qualify for a King Boreas challenge not far from my parents. We do. But in the process, I discovered something neat about wikipedia.
Search for the name of any town or city. When you get to the page on wikipedia with that entry, click on the coordinates that are near the upper right hand corner of the entry. You will find many wondrous things. Scroll down that list of wondrous things. You will find one thing called āGeocaching.comā and can click on ānearby.ā You get a list ofā¦nearby geocaches!
Who knew?
Me š I saw it when I was working on creating a yet-to-be-submitted challenge cache. Very handy!
I could be in the Dells…Wednesday night. Maybe. Thursday for sure.

Trying to get an EC approved out at Devilās Garden. The reviewer states I need to state I have approval from the land manager to place the cache. I canāt find out who the land manager is, if there is one. The reviewer didnāt respond to my question to this effect. Hmm
Are there any other caches nearby?
Two regulars are within the lava flow.

If elected I promise to make a campaign promise that the new BOD member will come to each members house and shovel their walk!

I would love to take you up on this offer, if we get any snow!

What is up with the avatars?
it is 51 degrees at 4:30 here. We have not had any significant precip in weeks. Since we moved here we haven’t had a week’s worth of precip like back there. This is a drought. Near record high temperatures as well.

Living along the St Croix made me expect to see bald eagles. There was a pair we would see regularly in our neighborhood.
I was pleasantly surprised to have a similar experience our here. I’m sure it is a different pair.

Finally made it to Bend today. My plan was leave by 8, get five Delorme pages, retrieve our TB that found it’s way to its final destination and then Whole Foods (my wife’s reason for going). Maybe sightseeing if we have time.
Last night she says it may be just me & the daughter going because her PTSD was flaring up just thinking about the drive. I understand and realize this is a big step for her.
This prompts me to add the Volcano in Bend earthcache to my list, because the way up would terrorize her.
This morning, things change: leaving two hours later, with her and no stopping along the route (different than my route). White knuckles for three hours for her.
Stopped at Red Robin to eat (first time ever for us). That section of town is one huge tourist/shopping trap. The girls shopped. I made a quick 10 cache walkable list and hit the pavement to walk off my stress. Found 5, DNF 2, 1LEO talking to some Tweens right on top of a nano and my time ran out as I was looking for one on a hill across from where we parked. One not searched for at all.
What was really strange was seeing people playing beach volleyball, barefoot and in shorts, in January, with snow covered mountains in the background.
Never made it to the store or TB
the drive home was rough because it was sunset.
Ugh
