Lowest high for the next week is 42.

See if the wormhole is open. Reminds me of DS9

Hey, I recognize those caches Bartrod 🙂
The Veterans’ Memorial one has been in bad shape for some time. It was our first find and I had a hard time convincing my wife that it was a cache because there wasn’t a log sheet. But Chuck isn’t maintaining his caches anymore, so…

The first owl I ever saw in the wild was a snowy, when I was a kid. Didn’t know it was a big deal. I really want to see a saw whet in person.

Checked my email when I woke up: school’s closed???
Guess I forgot to change that when we moved. -45 wind chill. Ouch.

We have another “air stagnation warning”. High pressure and wood burning stoves are not a good combination.

    Stay warm and safe!

Not as bad as I thought. Chew is as popular here as it was in WI in the early 90s. Meaning very popular. I notice a lot of things like that, some good and others not so much.

Just heard from two COs that two of my latest DNFs were gone and now archived.

One was fairly obvious to see it wasn’t there. The other had me kicking away 30 sq ft of pine needles and then scraping slightly frozen dirt with a rock.

After I posted the DNF the CO texted me a picture of the cache to help. A chew tin (very popular out here) with dirt and pine needles glued to the top and then set on the ground.

I dug through all the needles again. Took a picture of where I was searching because the texts of help contained references to buildings I don’t know. The CO said move right 🙂 my wife said move home. We went home.

All that time for nothing. I should’ve gone to GC4TD8M instead!

We loved finding a Beccaday souvenir in WRSP. Probably the best was having a bald eagle overhead at Straight Lake.

Just discovered there is another cacher in town, 45 finds since 07/11

They got FTF on one I placed today, plus went to my hotel. Same log for both (and most of their finds). Allow me to copy/paste it here:

Stillwater is full of good caches and COs! Plus, having all the cachers in the Cities nearby, the letterboxes must attract them like chickens to our yard.
Oh, if we cancelled school, it would be because of heat. Highs are in the 50s. No wind chill warnings like Marinette right now. I laughed because I was wearing shorts outside while some of the logs I was getting for the first round of finds kept mentioning how cold it was!
I have yet to wear my winter coat. I wore gloves while caching twice. The first time I was hiding some and grabbed two right-hand gloves and didn’t realize it until I parked.
Yesterday I moved more bags of leaves to get ready to get rid of them. More night crawlers!
Now, this isn’t normal weather st all, but when it is January and the caching complaint is that the trail is muddy after the frost melts, I’m not complaining!
