Found my first Adventure Lab this morning in LaCrosse. Tried to do the Herons one, but I guess I didn’t understand how they worked, so I gave up after not getting the first one to “work” (as I incorrectly thought they worked) and moved on to the one along the river. As I circled Hiawatha, I saw the “answer question” icon that I couldn’t see in the sun by the pump house. Oops. I really wanted to find the puzzle cache at the end of the Herons. Guess I need to see the doctor again sometime soon.

Over a month ago I misplaced the remote for the TV in the back family room, where I spend most of my time and allow my wife and kids to watch their shows (Acorn TV and anime). Not sure I miss it, although when the new Mandalorian comes out I’ll need to find it.

Speaking of dead links (BigJim’s reply about log sheets) I’ve noticed that some, but not all, of my WGA banners on my caches pages are dead. I thought they were all direct links to here, but maybe not.

Think I found the cache at the Viroqua Ice Center today on our trip to get groceries at the co-op there. Gotta say, if what I found was the cache, it’s an unusual one.

I need to get the electric geomobile in for repairs. Nowadays I rarely drive it except for my rare caching trips and the just as rare solo trip to a local store. The CV joint is grinding. I put 1000 miles on it after it started making noise because of Census work, now we’reΒ still waiting to close on our old house. It was supposed to take place today, but the buyer had something in their credit history that didn’t pop up until early this week, and will take two weeks to clear. That means another mortgage payment for us and a whole sting of phone calls to gas company, etc. to let them know the house is still ours. It also means that things like car repairs need to wait another couple of weeks.
Apologizes to our intrepid reviewers with my last two caches. Hope my questions aren’t annoying you. Things are much different here than in Oregon and I’m doing my best to meet your expectations. Thanks for your patience with me.

Nice being able to grab caches after supper each night and have room to place one or two along the way.

These may fall into the later category.

And, if you’re unhappy with the puzzle caches I have coming out in the near future, blame Lab_rat. I found the techniques while trying to solve one of his puzzles.

I’m tired of getting stung. I almost have more DNFs this month than finds.

One more page after this one to get through before #1200

My dad spent four days in the hospital. He was short of breath, getting dizzy standing up, and feeling anxious. They found he had fluid building up around his heart. After days of giving him something to get the fluid out of him, he’s back home. They’re also talking about giving him a third lead for his pacemaker since the double lead he has isn’t quite doing the trick.
He’s still golfing in his leagues, but he’s clearly not as strong as he was even just a year ago. At least he has his girlfriend, and they do shuttle back and forth between their two homes. She’s been struggling to deal with the death of her special needs son (at a remarkable age of 56), and not being able to get out to have a funeral for him hurts her.
Heading out now to fix some trim on our (soon to be former) house in Arkdale. Closing is at the end of this week. Need to get the trim done to meet all the requirements for sale. May try to find a lonely cache if I take the scenic way home.

Friday night I took a picture of the comet with my iphone. My aim was off because I couldn’t see anything on my screen, but if you look at the picture and know you’re looking for a comet, you can see a blur just above the bottom of the picture. That’s what it was like looking at it for me too. Too much light pollution from – Plainsfield?

Just got a FTF because the person searching for it before me looked before the cache was actually placed, but published. Met a different couple that drove up on me as I was signing the log. I rehid the cache for them and they found it. After a little bit of chit chat, I was off for another new cache. Messaged the not-FTF person back and forth for a little bit about how uncool it is to submit a cache before it’s in place.
I expected the coordinates to be a tad off on the second one because the map placement had it in the grass alongside a trail. They were off, but eventually made the find and sent the CO my readings. Very surprised that the person messaging me about the first cache didn’t mention that they had already found the one on the trail. π
Guess I better post my find so someone else doesn’t drive down there expecting a FTF and comes in third.

Zuma! drove all the way to Menominee to get a FTF? Wow! I teased my wife about going to visit family just to get the two new caches up there, but one was exposed to COVID recently, so that took care of that thought. No signs of infection yet, not sure how much longer they have to wait to get test results.

Humpday? How can you tell? π Life has me stuck in neutral. A list of chores I can’t complete because I don’t have the things I need to get them done. Big piles of brush, but no chipper. Lumber to stack but no splitter. Homes for our birds to be built, but my wife doesn’t have plans she can give me – she just has a feeling for how big they should be. Summer school, but no kids showing up.
Thanks for the reminder – today is dump run day.
Maybe I can convince my wife today is a good day for me to go caching. I’d go fishing, but we can’t find a place that is relatively convenient that also has fish. Downtown Wautoma is amazingly close and convenient, but I haven’t caught anything there in a couple weeks. We tried the big pond in Wild Rose but nada.
