We’re hoping to get solar installed on our land soon. No idea when “soon” is because of the other work that needs to be done on the house first, chiefly wiring. Haven’t even had time to look at a business to get a quote from, but we’re very interested.

We used Northwind Renewable Energy out of Stevens Point.

Was there a cache on their property in the past? Or was it where the renewable expo was held? Something like that. It is archived now.

Speaking of renewables, let’s renew this thread with a new page!

We talked about requesting one of those events, but decided we didn’t feel like planning one. Lazy, we are!

There’s no way we’ll be hosting one for several months, but maybe a 1st Annual Sandland Cache Bash sometime after June?

Just for future reference, it was 48 degrees in Wautoma yesterday.

All I get at home are gluten free pancakes, I’m starting to drool at the prospect of real ones.

Speaking of our son and phone calls, my wife just got off the phone with Mayo. We’ll be there with him for a week in April. He sees as many as 7 doctors in one day for tests to try to get a fix on what we can do about his hEDS. It’s not something we can cure, but he needs to learn how to do better self care. He’ll be 18 the week before the appointments. We’re hoping he doesn’t decide that he isn’t going.

My new snowblower doesn’t engage the drive for the wheels. Everything else works just fine. Called Lowes last Saturday, and they said they would call me on Monday to schedule a time to pick it up. Call never came.

I called them on the way home yesterday. They said they had scheduled a pickup next Tuesday morning. (I won’t do the all caps I used on them when I was on the phone with them) Without telling me about it.

After several times of being sent to someone else, and several “we will call you back in a couple minutes” and telling them it isn’t acceptable to wait a week and a half for help when my wife is a disabled vet, our daughter has a heart condition and our son has multiple health issues.

That changed their attitude. They said they would call me today between 9-10 to talk about when they would pick up ours and drop off a new one to replace it.

They never called. I’m trying to work on holding my temper long enough to make a phone call once school is over.

My AP Stats class has 5 kids (down from 7 at the start of the year).

Today: one got pulled for a club meeting, two are out sick, one never does anything – so I’m effectively down to one student. I went through notes, but quit halfway through because I knew she understood everything and we’d just redo it all when the missing kids came back (I hope) tomorrow.

I was nominated in the past, once, and declined because I really didn’t know much about what the WGA does. Then we moved to Oregon anyway, so that would’ve been less than optimal. I still haven’t attended any events due to family stuff – hoping for the Chili feed – but that would probably just be a drive there, say hello and then turn around and come home. I can’t see myself having time to commit to working at an event for several years down the road, and then only if they are close to Sandland.

I’ve taken to wearing a fleece jacket almost all day at work because I keep pens, markers, keys, etc. in the pockets for quick access as I’m walking around my classroom. I also wear it to/from work. It sure wasn’t enough when I went to the barn this morning! As I was driving, the temp on the car said 0. I need to start looking at the temp before I go outside dressed like this.

My department chair just let me know there’s a math opening in Wautoma – not that he wants me to leave. The high school is ~1 mile from my house. The Population Center Challenge cache is in between me and the school.

I think the new teacher they hired this year washed out.

I looked at the listing, and the classes are not interesting. Plus, I want to teach social studies, not math (which is what I teach here in Adams (and enjoy)). If they would give me what I made in Oregon, I’d think about it, but the thought of leaving my students, the great staff I have here and starting all over again…no thanks.
