Some followers of a Facebook group would cry foul if you replaced without the CO’s permission.

Sure, but the CO hasn’t logged a cache in three years.

When I ran for Assembly, I got most of my signatures at Copperfest. Really great interacting with people there that had never met someone running for public office and getting them interested in things.

And to reply to T&B about the lonely/missing? cache…it’s only 7 miles from my house. I’d adopt it if that were an option. I guess I could just wait for it to archive and place one nice and close to home.

Ok, I have a couple of minutes left…Looks like the next lonely cache to look for will probably be a DNF. Klutzyspuds’ only hide and they haven’t logged onto geocaching.com in four years. Last three posts on the cache are DNFs. What’s the position of the group about replacing a cache like this if the owner isn’t active?

We’re at the point where if I can’t come up with the means to move our tractor to the new house to till the new garden, all the work we did from planting seeds until now will be wasted. I have a lead…

Last official day of school for teachers. Meetings all day. Then three weeks (mornings) of summer school for me, unless I teach too well and they get work done early.

Speaking of meetings, time to head out to the first one.

When we were coincidentally living in New Richmond, we heard one of the (then) officers on Wisconsin Public Radio discussing geocaching. I had heard about it before, but that was the tipping point to get my wife interested. I know we can’t control what WPR has on their broadcasts, but have we tried to reach out to them recently?

:ftp: for the second time in a month?

With my 40 minute commute now, I’m catching up on Larry Meiller Show podcasts (the way we first heard about geocaching years ago). They were talking about ticks and mentioned the U-Oklahoma has a study going on tracking where ticks are, what species are in the country, and what diseases they are carrying. For free, you can send them your ticks and get a report back about species and any diseases found. There’s more on the internet, but I haven’t had time to look into it. I know we sure have more than our share at the new house.

Speaking of the new house, one good thing has finally come up: morels! We’re finding them all over, just like the ticks. Going price seems to be $25/pound. We need money badly to pay for all the repairs, that may help a little bit. Not sure how many we have, but they seem to be popping up wherever we look. My wife is seriously talking about having someone come in and tear down the old barn just to sell off the lumber. I’d hate to see that thing go.

If the ā€œHome Inspectorā€ has a webpage or FB page, I’d leave a really bad review.

We’re not on FB so we can’t leave a review that way. There’s an electrician at the house right now. I’m getting a brutal blow by blow through texts from my wife about what he’s finding wrong. As long as he doesn’t say “not safe to inhabit” we’re good because I spent almost an hour talking my wife off the cliff yesterday after work. She’s ready to pull the plug on Wisconsin and head back to Oregon. There’s an opening at my old school and she wants me to apply. I’m not that enthusiastic about leaving here.

Signed on our house last night, woot! woot! oh wait now I have to do the maintenance……. Oh well, time to grow the number of caches around Mazomanie and Black Earth area. Will be interesting to see how frequented they may get though.

Our house has turned out to be a complete lemon. The 5-year-old furnace broke this past weekend (when it was in the 40s) (the furnace guy saw scorch marks inside the guts when he first opened it, clearly the gases were leaking, then he saw a hole and realized it was leaking gas into the house). Oven doesn’t work. Countertop range doesn’t work. Why? There isn’t a junction box for either of them, just a bunch of stray wiring. Dishwasher is full of mold, probably because it wasn’t used and sat with moisture in it for who knows how long (did the previous owner have dishes to run if they couldn’t cook?).

We’re still moving out of our original house, doing work on the new house and wondering how we can afford two mortgage payments while doing repairs.

Anyone have experience where the home inspection didn’t reveal obvious problems?

Made my first lonely cache find in quite some time last weekend. May make another attempt at one soon too.

Gotta watch out for event stacking there.

Well, the events would be 40 miles apart…

I’m still working on simply finding the time to find a cache, but the new place has several lonelies close by.
