I wish I could set up a tw0-stage multicache event. Need to get furniture moved from one house to the next soon 🙂

How do you know you live with a smart kid that doesn’t interact with people enough? I woke my son up yesterday morning before I left for work. He’s homebound due to his still unresolved health issues. He groaned and asked my why I had school. I was confused, and told him it’s because it’s Wednesday, and we have school on Wednesdays. He said, “But it’s the international day of the workers!” Yeah. He needs to talk to people that aren’t on the internet more often.

Signed on the new house last Friday. Spent the weekend painting and hauling things the 40 miles between the two houses. I was proud of myself, I bypassed at least a dozen caches while driving between Rapids and the new house. I did stop for two, and came up empty both times. I’m having that happen way too often – stop for a quick P&G and there isn’t anything there, it’s been logged and nothing done for maintenance. Plus it makes me later than my wife wants me, and all I have is frustration to show her for it. 🙁 She’s actually ok with “but I just stopped for a cache” most of the time if I get a find.

Surprises so far with our “new” house aka an old farm house:

The basement leaks. Not really a surprise, but it’s worse than we were led to believe. We thought it would be good for our son’s bedroom, but not this month for sure.

The oven doesn’t work. Not a surprise, but the difficulty of getting it replaced is surprising. Need to have someone come to the house, measure the hole in the wall and then tell us what will fit there instead of just saying “we want that one” at the store.

The range top doesn’t work. Yeah, that’s a surprise. We knew about the oven, but I guess no one has cooked in the house for quite some time because my wife can’t get the counter top burners to work. At least she bought a microwave already.

They took the stuff they said they would leave us and just left junk. Guess we overestimated the people we were dealing with when we discussed what they could leave compared to what they did leave.

I’ve forgotten how close it is to town, and how convenient that is. Ordered pizza (see non-functioning kitchen equipment above) and immediately left to get it because they said it would be reading in 25 minutes. Got there in 5. Then realized they would have delivered it to our house. I forgot people deliver.

I forgot how to order at Culvers. Seriously. I was confused by their menu and the choices. I also forgot to check the FOTD.

As I was filling the non-cachemobile, I saw there was a Taco Johns in the station. Haven’t eaten there since the late 1980s, when we would stop coming back to campus from Water Street. What happened to a simple plain meat burrito?

The website timed out when I tried to post this, hope this isn’t a double posting.

    Hi, remember me?

Haven’t been able to cache much at all in quite some time. Much less time to get on here, or any computer for that matter, except for at work. Work is going well, kids are still the same only older – daughter should graduate from her alternative setting this year.

Big news: we’re moving to just west of Wautoma (not far from this cache). We’re closing in April. We will have 13 acres with more than that DNR land behind us, so expect some new caches, especially puzzles, in that area this summer – I just need to figure out how to get things past the DNR, never did that before.

My wife says once we’re settled in, it’s back to caching. I’ve been sitting on some TBs since we moved from Oregon, but every time I look for a cache big enough to hold them, I come up empty. The few times we’ve been past the area Hotels, the TBs have been left at home.

Otherwise, I don’t have time to go back to look at the dozens of pages of posts I’ve missed. Think about you guys all the time though. Hope to make it to an event, almost went to the past two in the area, but life got in the way.

Hey all. Two new Sandland caches got me back in the caching frame of mind. One isn’t far from home and the other is solved already and close to caches I haven’t found yet.

Life has kept us busy. Our son is looking at the possibility of having a long-term feeding tube inserted to get his weight up and health restored. He’s 5′ 8″ and “up to” 97 pounds. They scoped him and found that, while nothing is truly diagnostic, he has trouble processing gluten, dairy and sugars. Yesterday he went in for a kidney biopsy because his blood and urine protein levels are high. Waiting to see what that shows.

It’s been stressful, but these appointments are the reason we moved back to WI. Hope all has been well with all of you here. Too busy at work to go back over the many, many pages I’ve missed.

This is not spam. This is just how infrequently I get on a computer these days. We lost five teachers at the end of the school year, one retired and the rest moved along to somewhere else. Then another one left – at one point we had one out of four science positions staffed. One person took a SPED job and then left the next day (she found a job at the school across the street from the house she was living in). Then I found out the history teacher with the load most similar to the one I had for 20+ years left, after I had just spent a week going to an inservice to better understand how they want us to teach math here. I was told about this at the County Fair by another teacher, but after Act 10 was passed, they didn’t have to allow me to try to post into the job. I would’ve felt awful leaving my spot and forcing them to try to find a new math teacher (especially after getting the training) so I just kept my mouth shut. Then, I got an email from a fellow math teacher saying she had resigned – so I guess we’re looking for another math teacher anyway.

Anyone want to help me finish AP Stats problems before school starts?

The new caches in the Marinette area sure could be a geotour, just looking at the places they are hidden – good site locations! If we can just get the locations nailed down. Only really had problems with two of them, one read 0′ when I was at GZ but getting to that spot wasn’t easy because I had several places that were close to 0′ but were really 30-60′ off due to trees and hills.

Preparing for last math test of the summer. Hope he passes because if he doesn’t we have to start all over again.

Our summer school consists of plays and extra fun classes. No homework. Very time consuming for the wife to run back and forth.

We have that kind of summer school too, earlier in the summer. This isn’t that. Some of the kids have online classes to work on (that were not finished during the school year). Others are taking tests to prove they know the material they failed – we’re a “standards based grading” school. Essentially, I am condensing two weeks of instruction into a couple hours and then testing them. So far, no need for retakes.

My partner has a workshop today (like Jim) so I’m solo. The kids know that. She has been here for many years and the kids are very comfortable with her. I’m still new and a stranger for most kids. Attendance is somewhat optional, and so far they are opting out today – although they have 15 more minutes to get here before the official start time. Strange they aren’t coming in for breakfast though.
