My sophomore boys are debating “is water wet” to the exclusion of anything academic. Sometimes you just can’t win.

You came all the way here? Aren’t there places like in Tomah or the Dells with those items? I was surprised to find three Trumpeter Swans on the river below the spillway. It was my Christmas Bird count area, too. Where were they then????

    Dells: no

    Tomah: my wife says no.

We’ve run to Sun Prairie as well, looking for affordable, gluten free, and organic food. We were spoiled when we were living in New Richmond. Hudson and River Falls had several co-ops and health food stores that sold just what we needed at reasonable prices.

Went to LaX to shop for organic/gluten free stuff at Woodmans. Forgot to find the cache next to the store. Oops.

Hmm. If I’m not on the book of faces, how do I submit pictures to the group?

I have Cachly and GeoBucket and a couple others just in case. I have seen an app (on Android) that will let you scan the code on a TB for you instead of manually typing it in. Haven’t found it on iPhone yet.

I use my phone exclusively for caching. The app hasn’t been very useful ever since they switched away from having free/paid versions, there is just one now.

Nothing is more frustrating to me than the way they have for pointing you to the cache. The original had a nice line on the map that took you directly to the cache “as the crow flies” and the map rotated as you walked. At first, they just had a virtual compass pointing you the direction to walk. Then they brought back the line, but the map is static, meaning you must manually rotate the map as you twist and turn. It doesn’t sound like a big deal, but it is when you’re caching in the winter and your glove needs to keep coming out of gloves just to turn a map on a screen.

Has everyone attended an event this weekend yet? I know there are a couple today, and I hosted one yesterday.

Unfortunately, there wasn’t one at my in-laws.

Feels like I haven’t posted on here in forever. Haven’t found a cache since 1/1 either.

Drive around Adams Co. and you’ll see much of the same.

Well, I’ve been up since 1:30 this morning because…because? and learned just before lunch that I need to cover class during my prep. Maybe this is a good thing because I may have fallen asleep if I had a long, quiet class period by myself.

I think I’m getting close to my record drought for caching. Just not enough time to search when we’re out and about or weather isn’t cooperating to be able to find anything given what little time we would have.

Southern Oregon had a group, but is mostly defunct or has turned into a group of people in Medford that call themselves Southern Oregon Geocachers, but really just do stuff for that parochial area. Nothing statewide out there as the state is very fragmented due to large size, mountains and distinct personalities among the regions. Something I don’t think we have here in WI because even the urban cachers get out into the woods frequently and vice versa.
