Another spammer attack on logs? One I’m watching just got logged with “cheats” from that same website.
I wonder if they play Bingo Blitz?

Guess we will figure out what that means if/when we watch it off the DVR

I see those all the time, or something very similar. Another one of the birds I see and don’t recognize.

We don’t get fall colors here. Just brown and evergreen

Was really bummed out when I saw the next 2001 hide was just archived in August. Not that it was missing, but just because. I offered to adopt it, but I’d be surprised if the CO replies. It has to still be there because we don’t have cache rescue out here. One of the oldest caches in the state (and beyond?), archived because the CO just doesn’t want to do it anymore. GC53C

Found GC473 as my first cache today. Then headed on to find other ’01 hides and a couple that haven’t been found in at least two years. Quite an amazing area! One spot reminded me of caching in Wisconsin: fallen logs being covered by tall grass (not sage) and aspen trees. I was starting my search and put my hand on one of the aspens before it sunk in that I was in Oregon. This has to be my favorite area to cache! An immaculate blacktop road going up to the mountaintop and dirt roads heading off to the sides with a half dozen or so caches on each branch. Volt drivable dirt roads too. I found 13, there are still 50 or so to find in the area, and it’s less than an hour’s drive from home!

Good think about the Packers playing late tomorrow: time to cache or place without interfering with the game! Got yardwork done today, plus getting to work to make copies and work on results from last year’s state test. Looks like we had two more make the grade! One missed by one question. He’s kicking himself.

As darkness falls, this one pops up. Surprised it was solved and found so quickly. Also answers the Spock mystery 🙂
Warp Speed Ahead! (GC63C7C) I can solve this one and I don’t have to know anything about Star Trek or Klingons and we only have to drive 325 miles (one way) and hike some more so we get to have the FTF! (I took the badge to pass on to my friend Spock who helped me solve the other puzzle.) Nice hide!

Oh. I better add that Rebirth is a pregnant cache, so the “baby” going to Vietnam isn’t coming from the cemetery.

Some wet stuff actually came out of the sky yesterday. Of course, it was terrible timing because I was driving all day.
I think someone is camping here in town. Forgive me for posting a couple of the logs they’ve put online tonight. I wish I knew if they were still in town or posting them after they got back home from vacation!
Bonanza Campground (GC5EZGQ) I wanted to go to Bonanza to do some geocaching and thanks to this cache, we were able to find a place to spend the night, or three [;)]. Thanks!
Rebirth (GC5P24V) Cemetery caches are some of the best. We spend time reading many of the markers and wonder what their lives were like.<br style=”color: #5f452a; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: normal;” />We took one of the babies which will be traveling to Vietnam with a friend in a couple months.
One of the last logs indicated they were going on a long hike. Wonder if they are hitting up the OC&E Trail? Could be a day where I get over 50 “found it” logs…Here’s another that just popped up (getting closer to the trail)
Dax Facts (GC61K8E) Neither of us are fans of Star Trek nor Trills (Who or what ever they are) nor Klingons, so I had to do lots of research and still had trouble with two of the questions. Luckily, we were at an event just two days before we were to leave to come to Bonanza and who sat at our table but Spock himself. He gave me the answers I needed. Maybe someday he will also come here and find the cache.
A little confusing because Mr. Spock is gone, and I wouldn’t think that Leonard Nemoy knew much about the inner workings of DS9.

So happy to see this back online. Wisconsin is so fortunate to have something like this to keep the oldies going and maintained.

4 hour drive. 3 hour meeting. 6 hour drive back. 20 caches found – not all on the way back, that was weather and traffic – and one 8 mile detour to get an EC and virtual in one location. Found several ’03 hides but not old enough to make my oldest finds list. Just a few of those in the not-very-distant area. Two of those are among the oldest in the state.
Got up at 4am and I can feel the energy draining fast.

Personally, I am still in an area where there are many caches to find and the geography out here means I can head in and still find over 100 caches within a city/park locale or head into the real wild west where there are caches unfound for years due to remoteness. My students are amazed at where I have taken my Volt, and that I’m not armed when I head out into the boonies (not for protection from the animals, protection from the people). I can go on a binge in town when I want to (ok, when my wife lets me) or take long walks/drives into amazing scenery. I’m still trying to get to GCHJXP to see the petroglyphs there.
For my hides, I’ve learned that the locals are interested in numbers. The older cachers (including a charter member) don’t want to take on the high T ratings. The newer ones can still feast on the ones in town. I’ve had one of the FTF hounds tell me I need to stop hiding caches “out there” because no one ever gets to them! In more polite words, I told him that was his problem, not mine. I managed to get a multi, several puzzle, earth and letterbox hidden alongside several traditional caches in my little town. If you don’t want to drive 30 miles from town to get a variety of types and sizes, along with great Mexican food, then stay in town! 🙂
The other hiders out here run a gamut from a couple very clever gadget guys, one creative and evil guy, and then several others that fill in the gaps. All are appreciated by me. I do miss Spike007 hides!

Another crushing win for the Lady Antlers tonight in volleyball.
Yes, we are the Antlers.
Hoping the meeting is short tomorrow so I can pick up some Delorme pages and counties on the way home. It would make up for getting on the road at 5 am.The best sig is no sig.
Planning a route for my four hour drive to attend a 1 hour meeting tomorrow. The random route of the moment is Duluth to the Soo! Seeing stuff from back home like that really throws me.
