Won the 50/50 raffle at the Chili Festival. $140 in. $20 for raffle tickets & another $20 for more raffle tickets and $60 for supper. The rest pays for the stuff I bought at garage sales for caches.

Oh. Chill was good too! Worth the trip out here in case someone needs plans for next summer.

Did a little research to find that our favorite smasher of ground got find #7000 at GC5KHVV in Indiana while on the road yet again. Hard to keep track of that guy, but in his hides or finds, he always tries to make things memorable! Congrats on the milestone, Clayton!

If you’re on an iPhone, the free app Hamster lets you keep track of people 🙂

    Good news/Bad news post.

Good news: There was a rare bird sighting today! HP2 (both of them) managed to catch us at home while they were heading back to KF from a short caching trip. Didn’t get to chat much because they were in a hurry to get back “home” to KF and then head down to Tahoe on the way back to WI, but at least we got to see each other and such.

Good News: The kids’ checkups outside Eugene went well. Doctor sees no need to see them for another year and he comes to Medford twice a year, so we can try to schedule for there next year and save two-hours worth of car time (see below).

Good News: All my caches are doing well getting ready for the Oregon State Chili Cookoff that starts tomorrow! Unfortunately, the Earthcache/CITO souvenir doesn’t start until later. I have an EC here in Bonanza and this place can certainly use CITO. Funny how an economic downturn effects the cleanliness of an area. Throw in the high number of migrant-ish farm families that rent instead of own (and rent from the farmers they work for) (I view it as a modern version of feudalism) and (if you talk to long-term residents) things just aren’t like they “used to be”. Hence, we could use a CITO, but not as bad as KF does. That place has areas that are hard to distinguish from a dump. (I guess this was good news.)

Bad News: Today, my wife (40) was told by her doctor she has degenerative discs in her back. Arthritis in her hips. That’s not anything she didn’t know already, but the first time a doctor confirmed what she thought all along. It’s a miracle every time she walks down the trails with me.

The seven-plus weeks she spent back in MI, she worked cleaning her mother’s house (early stages hoarder). Everything she did there was exactly what the doctor told her she shouldn’t do: lift heavy objects, twist her torso under stress, repeated motions, etc. Throw in a 5-day drive coming home and it’s no wonder she’s been miserable ever since.

She tries to do too much (or should I say she does too much) around here.

This is really just the tip of the iceberg for her physically. Really takes a toll on her emotionally too.

Had to pass by a webcam today due to construction just down the highway. Too congested to stop and no signal to take the picture until we were right on top of the camera. At least we know where it is and that it will work.

Two blah finds in the morning and then it is breakfast and kids’ appointments then home. I have been informed we are not stopping on the way.

The caches here suck. More DNF than finds. So many dead end roads I spent more time turning around than caching

Taking the kids to a clinic just east of Eugene today. (See puzzles referenced above) Potential for 8 Delorme pages and several new counties. Two of the pages are just a dip in the road crossing into the pai, but someone has a cache there, of course.
80 more to get my comma!
