Wow!! Something we have to look forward to. We’ve been thinking of some hides. Taking more time than our first two PNG. And we got frustrated when our fully stocked 5 gal bucket was empty. Now I see we were being silly, at least our bucket was still there 😳

Reading all of the venting posts written we just wanted to say thank you for everyone that goes through this….and still places new caches.

Any unique cache container, puzzle, multi or even the story behind the cache are ones that we never forget.

Thanks for ALL of the time in placing these, there are so many caches out there that while leaving laughing and saying “We would have never thought of THAT!”

    Congrats!!

in reply to: Sometimes it just best to Ignore it #1916750

We don’t use the ignore option. We do have our own list of caches for “someday.” Someday we’ll find this cache, someday we’ll use a boat, someday we’ll walk 5.4 miles for two earthcaches (thanks Lostby7 😀 ), someday we’ll do that puzzle or werigo cache, someday we’ll find this stupid tank hide. It’s such a gratifiying feeling when you do get the smiley on these caches.

We’re interested to see what kinds of caches people have on these lists. And are they more of a someday than a never?

in reply to: Yes it can be done! #1916572

Our post wasn’t meant to come down on anyone for doing this run. Some day we will do a day like this just for fun.

But we also didn’t place a post in the “power caching” forum that stated that we didn’t understand why the other group would do a run like this.

The point was some are so eager to make comments on this forum before they think.

Its just frustrating to see some that were so quick to show they felt one way in one forum now say something completely different.

Just trying to remind people (not excluding us) to be nice in our forum posts and try not to be so quick to judge others.

And many that did post to our last post was the same on both forums. And we thank you for your honesty.

Now hopefully this will be our last post writting out of frustration. We can’t be a hippocrate.

in reply to: Pharmteam 5K #1916690

Congrats on 5K and just think of how many memories there were!!

    To many more 🙂

in reply to: Yes it can be done! #1916562

FIRST off congrats. We think a run like this would make for good memories

The second part of this post will most likely mad some/most upset but we cannot go without posting it.

Why is it when a team NOT from WI did a run like this many of our forum members made many comments about how those that did it were out for only the numbers.

And now its different when a team from WI does it? We don’t understand.

Northern Lightz was all for it THEN AND NOW.

Just saying that maybe next time that people are willing to critisize on how a different team geocaches, they should think what if the situation included those I know….

Thats just our thoughts on it and we’re not calling any specific team out…..though we easily could.

But just remember that a situation may come up like this again.

Maybe this post will remind people to think before they feel they have the right to comment on how another team plays the game. We’re all out doing the same thing. This may also remind others to play nice in the forums, don’t be so quick to critisize. It may make people question what type of person you are when you go back on what you so eagerly put down, or said wasn’t right.

in reply to: Island/water caches and duck hunters #1915946

WE have decieded that during all hunting seasons we are going to use safety measures. We are wearing blaze orange vests everytime we go caching (duck hunters dont wear orange YOU will stand out). For every cache, you are at (ie:cemetary, park) you dont always know what land bumps up to it. There’s always the risk of hunters. Tis’ the season.

Public land used for hunting we will still go to but only during the week. We love when caches have the hunting attribute on (thanks Gotta Run) it lets us make our decision before we go. Temporarily Disabling them would take out a lot of caches in our area. 😥

The difference is the good hunters will usually acknowledge you before you see them. Apologize, explain what your doing and ask if they would like you to take a certain path. They may ask you to walk a certain way with the possibility of jumping something towards their direction. Many hunters have been in both of these positions at least once if hunting on public land. Most are very understanding, there are those few though.

We understand this is a serious decision for all cache owners and it is their choice. But if someone wants to cache in an area its also their choice. Just like some people like caches in round abouts and others think it dangerous. It’s a personal choice no right or wrong answer. As long as cachers aren’t wearing all brown or a goose costume 😉 ….we should be fine.

in reply to: Where are your priorities? #1915863

With it just being the two of us (as of now) and being newlyweds (just had our 1 yr aniv) we go whenever we get a day off together. With Tim being a retail store manager when we get a day off together we cache. We never cache without the other one. Silly we know.

We got a GPS for a present so we would always have something to do with each other. It’s cheaper than going to the bars, less headaches (unless we hit our head on a branch.) And if we feel like life is getting to us, its our alone time.

Besides, it will rain sometime we can do laundry then. 😛

in reply to: Upcoming Events list #1915802

OK here’s the real deal and info on it.. Yes it was cancelled Yes it did have something to do with caching just very confusing. It was cancelled due to lack of interest…or lack of geocaching knowledge by the paranormal group.

The reason we know this info is because we recently joined the group. After joining them we scolded them for trying to host an event with no one knowing anything about geocaching. They apologized asked lots of questions as to the best way to hold an event and about the caches.

We offered to try to hold an event in the future to help people understand the world of the paranormal. But this time we hold a TRUE geocaching event. Not as much confusion. They had a good idea just didn’t know how to put the finishing geocaching touch on it. Hope this helps with any confusion. Any other questions you can contact us and if we don’t know the answer we can find out.

in reply to: Full Logs and Replacing #1915567

We went to a puzzle/multi..when we got to the cache the log book was missing all we had with us was a sheet of paper. We placed it in the log and PM the owner letting them know. The owner was very greatful and sent us back a message. Larger caches we may put in another log but never take out the old one, any messages in the log was meant for the owner. If it was a micro we may not replace, depending on the situation.

Happy Geoversary! Being new cachers we were just thinking a while back where we’re going to be in a couple years. We’ve made so many memories caching in such a short amount of time, we can only imagine how many you and those who have been doing this for a couple of years have. Congrats and hope to put a face to the name sometime.

in reply to: flashlights used for night caching #1915094

We use a 3D Maglight. Agian keeping it at eye level. This flashlight works great, even on the father reflectors. We’ve already had one person stand with the flashlight and direct the other one where to go because if you move you loose it. Hope you have fun night caching! We enjoy it whenever we can.

Technically we are “newbies” we started over Memorial Day this year and we have 400 finds as of now. We completely understand the NM issue! We have gone out to caches that we notice the last log was supposed to be a DNF and we have found them. If we think we found the hiding spot and nothing is there we always log a DNF. But put a note saying we thought we found the spot but wasn’t there, the only time we put that it needs to be checked on is if there were several DNF before us.

The only NM that we have ever posted was when a rubbermaid container was shattered. The lid was no longer. That deserved it! A DNF does not need it.

I have helped out our cousin “Jerry’s Dad” check on some caches by us when people couldn’t find it. Being the only person to have a DNF in months doesn’t mean you need to tell the owner to “check on it, it’s not there” So far every cache we’ve check on ARE there.

People just need to use common sense! Newbies or oldies. Sometimes people with the higher numbers can’t believe they can’t find it and are quick to tell the owner to check on it. Sometimes it’s just not your day. Just log a DNF and check another day!

We have 2 caches hidden and we read EVERY log and look at ANY TB’s that were dropped. To us reading what people write is what makes hiding caches fun to us. Reading logs, seeing where they are from and if they have caches hidden are so we can enjoy the caches they have placed.
