I live in Door County on Washington Island. Can’t get any further north in Door County except Rock Island State park. I’ll be off island last part of deer season so I could place it on Door County mainland or I might go to Rock during blackpowder season so I could get it even further out. If Washington Island is o.k. I can place here. Let me know.

So it has been tried. Pre-trailer, but done. Costly too!
Personally I’ll continue to grab 2 or 3 as I need them when I need them. Spend so much more on gas that I look at it as part of the hobby expense and a small part of it.
I just feel the pain of those with dozens of ammo can caches where they get stolen and the anger they may feel.
Congratulations! Time to celebrate with a Ray’s Hot Ham and an Ice Cold Leinies!
I have found 5 that had been archived. The oldest had been for 2 1/2 years. None of them had ever made the cache rescue list. The funniest was one that hadn’t been archived but there were two containers at the site. A replacement and the old one. It was kind of funny in that the previous finder had found one container and I found the second one and it didn’t match up. A third cacher came along and verified there were two after he found both thereby vindicating both of us.
O.K., who has the capital and who has the technological skills. New invention idea! LoJack for ammo cans!
I really like searching for an ammo can, often when I check out a new cache placement if while I’m reading the description it tells me you are looking for a camo covered peanut butter jar, I look at another cache placement instead. I don’t know if others feel that way but it’s like looking for a treasure chest vs a piece of trash psychologically for me.
I know there is often more to the hide then the container; location, beauty of area, view, etc., but even an ammo can in a dumpy area has more thrill for me.
This may have been discussed in the past, I don’t know, but would the WGA ever think of buying a pallet of ammo cans and making them available for sale at events for a small mark-up? (Toss a bunch in the WGA trailer) I’m still able to find them for anywhere from $8-$12 a piece so imagine how cheap they really may be in bulk. Even at the price I pay, I spend a lot more on gas so I’m not complaining yet I don’t have the number of hides others do out there.
I think a lot of people prefer a treasure chest (ammo can) over a peanut butter jar.

Just went back and re-read my “Found It” on this one.
I had read your log also and had a copy of it in my pack during muzzleloader AND the regular season the 10 days before it. So much for me using that time wisely!
I’m sure I’ll be doing a little dance on the day I remove it from my DNF list…But that will most likely come after the muttered Duuuuh followed by the head smack.
Congratulations!

tom…..the hardest ones to find are always the ones you placed yourself.
That’s why I try to stick to ammo cans. If I can’t see them, I might trip over them…
In defense of Peach even though he doesn’t need it, he has placed some of the most interesting puzzle caches I’ve encountered. True I do mostly Northern Brown and Door County puzzles, but they have given me hours of pleasure. Thanks!

Even with help a lot of your puzzles are tough. You are very cryptic with any help you give.
I didn’t even realize Peach gave out any clues let alone cryptic ones. 😯 😯 😯
I’m trying to think if I’ve ever asked for clues. May have. The only one I can remember for sure is “It’s All In the Numbers”-Puzzle” (GC1CF1P). And that was asking the individual who adopted it from you. Never heard back so I figured that I need to figure it out by myself. And then if you go back and look at the most recent log, Peach couldn’t even find it 😯 😯 😯
That’s Cryptic 8)
And I don’t want to hear from any of you smart people out there who found it and on “How Easy It Was”!
Numbers, numbers, numbers.
Bring me to a great view or experience in figuring it out and that’s what I personally care about. Maybe we need a “WOW” rating. Favorite points seems to be the closest we have come to that so far. Cache of the month seems to also be aimed towards that. I’m actually one of those that will read others logs to find out if it qualifies as a “WOW”.

…it may change someone’s Blackout grid, and we can’t have that!
So does that mean the CO can delete your log? 😯
Some challenges are beyond my present abilities. (Thank goodness)I have always wondered how the site handles those cache D/T changes. Does it get stored as to what it was on the date found or does it change to its present D/T status.
Along those line, and I personally don’t care to much about “my” D/T stats, when a group of 5 cachers finds a 5/5, shouldn’t they only get a 1/1 credit in their stats when only 1 person in the group solved it?
That’s one of the reasons I don’t put a lot of credence in D/T stats.
As a side note, I think the difficulty on many of your puzzles is to low.
Wow, what a view AND path! Not for the faint of heart…
Team Deejay and CodeJunkie both make valid and accurate points. There are hunters out there that give the sport a bad name and they often are nowhere to be found after the opening weekend. After that you will find a group that is much more serious about their sport. They often will spot you way before you spot them and will raise a hand or quietly signal you to let you know they are there. Blaze orange is the best choice but a good hunter will recognize any bright color that doesn’t belong. In 40+ years of hunting, I have seen way to many non-hunters in earthtones in the woods. Brown and tan are way too common. The nice thing about blaze colors (those yellow safety vests also work) is that they are easy to see from a long distance. I have often spotted a strip of orange survey tape from a very long distance while walking the woods.
