Not the norm, and never could figure out how the water got in there. Seems to be getting wet over the winter……
Thanks! Similar to what I’m thinking of in so many ways. It’s about 40 miles from the cottage so I’m going to figure it out. Looks like duct tape on the glued cap end. That still shouldn’t be the problem though if it’s hanging. Lack of visits by the cache owner to the site is a clue. It’s moving location another? A non puzzle puzzle to solve. Either that or look for the receipt for the PVC fittings.

Every container that I have found made from PVC pipe either could not be easily opened or it leaked. They also look like pipe bombs. Not saying you shouldn’t try it, just offering what I have seen.
That’s interesting. Every container out of PVC I’ve encountered was watertight. In fact that is what got the idea brewing in my mind. Lucky I guess. I can understand the pipe bomb concern. Might be more appropriate for the National Forest where I will be placing them over an urban cache placement. In fact the chain addition came from the idea of hanging them opening end down from a tree branch.
Darn, there’s always some new wrinkle in an idea…
Recently I was at a big box store checking out PVC. For some stage caches I’m going to create a container with these materials. 8″ segment of pipe, end cap, and a threaded cap on the other end. The materials are cheaper than everything but the cheapest ammo cans. At the same time I was looking at bulk chain. Lightweight is very cheap when you buy it in 10′-20 foot prepackaged lengths.
Using this chain and doing a simple fasten to a non-movable fixture with a bolt and washers would protect from all but the most serious thief. In locations that would be acceptable, this might be the route to go. Additionally, the PVC containers may be less desirable than ammo cans.

And “I” think a few points now and then are a big deal.
Woo Hoo!
Three out of four of my “No Name Lake” caches made the site! Would you believe I’m doing work on 5-8? 😈
I keep checking back to this post every time someone new posts. This concerns me and makes me nervous. I use ammo cans whenever I can. Although my “can” caches spend more time on the lonely cache list then being found due to their remoteness, I worry. I think regardless, I’ll continue to use them though. I know how much I enjoy finding a big old ammo can at the end of the search.

Having done 8 of your earthcaches, I’m sad to read that. I’m sure anyone that has done any of your earthcaches will agree.
I’m going to quote myself here with a correction. I should have said “read” instead of “done”.
All you have to do is read my log from The Namur Drumlin, (GC3FDFJ) to know that it was an educational experience for me.

they talk site specific? …..What is unique about this area? HMMMM. NOTHING!!! It’s a freakin marsh. Exact same as the one down the road, the ones in Appleton……..and the ones in eastern europe. Uniqueness? It is here………..at these coordinates………..and yours isn’t. Now that’s unique. Post the dam thing!!!
I apologize in advance for laughing out loud when I read your post, but its great! Having been a teacher for 30+ years, it becomes “I” think obvious what s happening here. Reviewer is overworked, unpaid and harried to respond to submissions.
What makes it unique? (You) “A wonderful example of one of the various types”. Is the reviewer just not getting it or are they doing a poor job of explaining to you what additional educational facts they need?
Never having created a earthcache, I may be totally wrong, but I really enjoyed the post.
BUMMER!

Congratulations on 2100! Yawningdog caches are a wonderful choice for any milestone.
Whoa! Have to check the site more often during the summer! (That’s what happens when the closest WIFI is 12 miles away.)
Thanks Bartrod and everyone!
And can we expect to see that geocoin appearing in a cache near you soon? Congratulations Jeff!
Congratulations! Jon and I were in the same thought process after a TE event in Rhinelander last summer on a cache after the gathering. Had a nice visit. Glad to see he’s still plugging away.
If this is the way you choose to log: In your word document (Microsoft Word or whatever program you use), type up an initial log. When done:
Press the two keys “command and A” at the same time. This copies what you have just typed.
In your next log, place your cursor in the area where you want to place the same log information (cut and paste) and press the two keys “command and V” at the same time.
This will place the same log information that you copied.
You can then choose to modify a log if you like by adding something additional into the pasted log. ie. “Had 6 sasquatch cross the trail in front of me.”
Next time you log and paste, the original log you used remains the same until you copy a new one.
Hope this helps and someone may have an easier solution, but just in case.
Congratulations! I’ll be in Eau Claire to check out some more of your caches this summer! Keep up the great work on those E.C. parks! I love them!
