Log writer hitting the send button twice and not realizing it. “OR” Sometimes the log a cache send seems to get hung up in the thinking mode. If you hit send again you often get two posts if you don’t check and delete the extra. It’s happened to me a few times.

Some individuals including myself get burned out on the cache and dash hide (Been using the term for a while Cheeto, just sounded better than P&G). But we still grab them and hope they will be something better. I love them as a way to build the numbers to position myself for the great one before a milestone. They come in handy when you are traveling cross state and have little or no time. They can offer a quick find in the cold of winter or the heat of summer.

They might change, they might not. At least I know whether or not I should stop when I travel thru.

What works well for me is the following system. Some will think “not for me”. It’s based simply on the idea that you have to know they are there to do something about them before they get to those areas where you can’t reach or see.

I always wear shorts when the situation allows. You see them and you remove them as they try to move up the leg. Hairy legs help slow their progress. Women may have to consider a European look 😥 I apply DEET to my shoe surfaces and socks and am not opposed to applying it to the entire leg. I will remove dozens during the day when I travel in grassy or brushy areas. Dark pants such as jeans you often miss them because they are less obvious. Light colored pants end up looking like camo at the end of the day from grass and leaf stains (I like to get more than one day out of my pants before I have to wash them because of the way they look).

It’s true that right about the first of July they seem to disappear (heat, dryness?). I’m not sure why but it’s great. From now thru June, they’re everywhere!

If you’re not adverse to wearing a spray with DEET, might be a good time to stock up on it. It’s going to be a long tick season and the price of repellant is most likely going to be high with the demand. I know it’s going to be on my shopping list next week when I’m off island.

I didn’t see any mention of the boycott you mentioned but I didn’t look real careful. Gives me a reason to head to western Wisconsin… To do “Your” caches!

Ok, I finally got this one done. I thought about what birdin said and decided to drop the “addiction” part. I went with Jeff foxworthys line instead. GC3BWGM

Now I have a reason to head south instead of north to find a cache!

Am touting the Yellow Brick Road Series….27, soon to be 35, caches along the Oconto River Trail in Oconto…lots of unique containers 😀

Looking forward to the addition! Am I anticipating a “Horse of a Different Color”? I agree, this is one of the most enjoyable series I have ever done. Bring a bike, otherwise you’re in for a lot of walking. It’s possible but a long trek. It took my wife and I about seven hours of walking and searching time.

I don’t think my wife would be interested in wearing her wedding dress on the snowmobile… She’s lots of fun but…

I have the same problem and the same visual situation. No depth perception either. Yet I attribute it more to extremely old stones that have suffered severe erosion over the years. Stones from the Civil War era seem to be some of the worst.

Using your sense of touch with your finger pads, seems to help. Some may frown upon it but a few seconds of touch is nothing compared to decades of atmospheric effects.

Thanks for all the insight. It’s nice to have a knowledgeable group to ask questions of. This makes the process of dreaming about fun and interesting cache ideas get closer to a reality.

    1. “Challenge caches based on a specific list of caches, such as caches placed by a specific person or group, will generally not be published.”

So does this mean that a new cache similar to GC2M3MW Wisconsin Roadside Weirdness Challenge by Trekkin’ and birdin’ would not be acceptable? (A cache that would require you to find specific caches that have a specific feature/quality/etc. in the state).

I am in the process of creating a cache that requires you to visit specific caches and log them to complete the challenge. All of these caches are located in very specific locations. The way I read it now is this is a no go. Sad to think that it’s true.

I am personally logging all these cache and had planned to include them in the challenge and now I won’t be able to bring others to these spots through the challenge process.
