Well I don’t know if I see the Halloween theme but we did this series today and it is great. I’m going to start a recommended cache post.
What did you watch on television every Halloween growing up? This was an annual tradition in the household when I was young. The flying monkeys still give me the creeps…

Well said! Placing a cache isn’t about receiving praise from the Geocaching community, it’s about giving back.

I bit of a drive, but a fun series of caches outside of Oconto Falls.

I thought he repaired a cache before finding one. ๐
I want him to cache further north.

Anything can be abused, yet this is an example of the positive aspect of the change.
Cache Rescue!
I like the idea for caches that are in a really special place or ones that you have spent a good deal of time (searching, puzzle, etc.) on and it has now gone missing.
Those magnetics on a guardrail with a cache description like “quick stop to stretch your legs…” I’ll most likely let someone else take care of it.
It reminds me of a cache I spent a great deal of time on to solve, and then it went missing. It was archived and I wished I could have solved/found it before it went missing.

Fumble fingered my last post… I try to place 1 cache for every 100. Have 2 to get back on track but have 4 ready. Just waiting for the right time to release. Pet peeve of mine is lack of maintenance. We all help out, but why do people place caches they can’t or won’t maintain. I can understand a cache in an extreme location, but in a park or easy access place?

The police should check the coordinates. Informed law enforcement might.
Good news! Glad it happened.

…you get the container for your efforts. Done this a couple times in the past.
Otherwise, I’ll get it myself if I want the container.
That’s the way I read the policy, but wanted to make sure my interpretation was correct. I have personally found two archived caches (not rescue mission listed) and informed the owner of the where and details of the location. Waited a period of several months with no reply and claimed the containers for myself.
The only thing I worry about, is that in a cache rescue, they remove it and I don’t see any requirement to return to placer. I would personally like to get a container back.
Can this be a requirement for the rescue? Or maybe I missed the requirement to return to owner.
I looked at the cache page and saw your note that you are planning to archive, yet I know that there are a lot of cachers that love a difficult challenge.
How about putting an update in the page about the blowdown, jacking the difficulty, and asking for assistance in the quest to recover?
Some cachers might jump at the chance.

Good observation and catch! Makes me wonder what pre-GC was for.
Interesting concept. Personally, I don’t think I would be a participant. Just don’t give out my cell number. I can see how certain individuals would use this as an aid or assistance, but I’m a newer cacher with an old time attitude. I like to do my own work and if it involves more then one visit to score a find, that’s part of the game. For me, DNF’s go with the finds.
