What about all the state trails that require purchase of a pass if you want to use them for biking and such?
My thoughts also, I’m saving up all the caches that require a park sticker to access for just this reason. Not a camper, so I will purchase a sticker for a marathon quest, possibly this summer. Will have to wait till latter when I’m at a computer that doesn’t block forums to read more.
One little critter I personally despise!!!!
I purposely wear shorts almost all summer so I can catch the little buggers when they strike and remove them from the food chain.
WOW!!! This looks SO interesting! So close yet so far (I live on Washington Island).
I am going to bookmark this and see how my summer unfolds. Boy, I want to only if… THANK YOU for the heads-up!

02/17/2011 at 3:11 pm in reply to: Volunteers needed for Membership and Education Committees #1943180Both committee’s sound good. I think I would definitely be interested in the membership committee but would like a clearer definition on duties (goals, objectives, etc.) of both.
Issues to look at prior to purchase would be where to keep it, and how to prevent it from getting busted in shipping.
How about that turn-off on HWY …No never mind… Storage lockers (buildings) are popping up all over the state. Is this possible?
And for the shipping container, how about “This is a job for “Super Science Teacher”! With all these members out there, many of you may be aware of the classroom project that appears on a regular basis in schools to design a container to protect an egg dropped from an extreme height…. I think you get my idea. Shipping? The Post Office keeps advertising those “If it fits it can be shipped” for a flat rate containers. Just make sure to insure it.

Just to clarify, the DOT policy applies to state managed rest areas on the interstate highway system. Highway waysides on state and county roads are generally managed by the county highway department, and geocaches are generally allowed in waysides.
Important point and valuable information. I think a lot of us prefer the scenic route over the 4-8 lane zip thru.

Wausau schools do not loan or rent out equipment. If you want to use it in the district for events there is a charge as a a/v person has to be there. In casual conversation with other districts this is starting to become more the norm.
While the challenges for keeping a device like this in the right spot at the right time and in good shape are big I’d also say its not a bad idea to consider it and write out guidelines on its use and storage.
This is going to be more common in larger school districts and more so in the smaller in the future. It truly is unfortunate. Our districts philosophy tries to follow the community pays the taxes to support the school so we support the organizations in the community.
Where are all the WGA possessions kept now? Maybe this is an item to be kept in the hands of the GEO 101 presenters? How about one of the board members? Just trying to think out loud here… Do any other members see the benefits outweighing the drawbacks?
Is this a can of worms we want to close instead?
I wasn’t able to attend, but might I offer an interesting idea and purchase for the WGA. When you say digital presenter, I assume you are referring to the unit that looks like what many people may refer to as looking like the old overhead projector. I have used these in the past and they have wonderful features but are limited to the room in which they are located, generally an ITV room or classroom.
Might I suggest that the WGA look in to the purchase of a LCD Projector?
Cost? A few hundred dollars and up. The one I use regularly is in the ball bark of 5-$600. Many schools and Tech Colleges will loan these out.
What is it? It’s a projector that can be hooked up to a laptop and used anywhere you go, with or without internet access. Anything you have on your laptop can be presented against a wall or screen. WI-FI increases the possibilities of what you can present.
Why? Let me try to help you visualize some situations.
1. WGA gathering, a power point presentation that loops which has a collection of previous gatherings and all those great photos projected on a wall or screen.
2. GEO 101 class, new geocachers are gathered in a room, instructor is able to walk them thru step by step procedure on how to-use your GPS, use various sites, create a cache, you name it. The students can bring up the site on their own laptop if they have one with; and watch the step-by-step procedure on a projector screen rather then laptop screen. And many other possibilities.Zuma has possibly already used one of these at the Tech College and many others may be well aware of the possibilities. Might be an idea to bring up at the Board Meeting.
Congratulations! Go get-em team!
It was rewarding and educational to learn about everyones positions and beliefs. Ralph, you and I have to get together for a gyro at the Olympic Flame this summer when I visit my sister in Eau Claire!

What a wonderful cache for this milestone! Congratulations Bartrod!

Checking it out. Always wondered if there was a magazine related to the activity. Does anyone know of others?
My prayers and thought are with you and your family!

windows xp – its a few clicks but I think its ctrl-shft-prt scrn that puts a snapshot of your desktop into the clipboard which you can paste into a program or document word for sure possibly paint, but I haven’t tried it).
mac osx –
CMD-SHF-4 will give you a cross hairs that you click and drag over the area you want.
CMD-SHF-3 does the entire screen. Both put them as a png labeled “Screen Shot Date-Time” on the desktop.
Thank You!
I actually took a screen shot of the instructions and saved it on my computer. Then latter that evening our local police officer came by to ask if I received the new roster for the Rescue Squad and if I could make sure that individuals got it, I showed him the technique and how to use it, and now it’s in his bag of tools, I tell you, its going viral on Washington Island… 😉@labrat_wr wrote:
okay, made the hummus, now what to do with it? 😀
Other than the quesadillas, other uses for Hummus?I’m laughing as I post this. The neighbor wife Really Loves Hummus! Any time they come over and bring a dish, it often is this pre-chewed substance.
Her husband would much rather gorge himself on the other snacks like me (when she’s not looking).
BUT, my wife loves it!
Okay, enough not sharing by me.
Mini Rubens
Cocktail Rye-Toast It
The dried beef that comes in those glass jars on the grocery shelf.
Sauer Kraut
Lots of Onion Powder
Small slice of swiss cheese on top.
Bring it to the party on a cookie tray like that, pop it in the broiler just prior to serving, there are never any left to take home 🙁 -
