I believe all the m500 series Palms I bought from e-bay last year had USB cradles.

The original cradle for my personal m500 bought from Palm several years ago “may” have had a serial cradle, but I had since bought a usb sync cable for it (with car charger) which works great, and is easier to use with the hardshell case.

It isn’t the Palm that is usb/serial it is the cradle or cable that determines it. I think I still have a couple cradles (though without power supplies) if someone is interested. without the power supply it will sync, but it wont charge. I would think the power supplies are the same between serial and usb cradles for the same model palms.

Ebay is generally your best bet for cheap palms. I would recommend the m500 series or higher, because of the SD slot capability for additional storage.

Also note that if you get one with a poor battery, you can get replacements, (ebay also has those) and they are easy to replace. I replaced 3 or 4 of them for the units I had bought for resale at my paperless training last year.

Congrats to all the new board members. And thanks to those who support me as well.

We also use a Magellan Meridian Gold.

There is a yahoo forum for it as well:

    http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Magellan_Meridian/

it has a very good FAQ and there are many knowledgable members. It is probably the best place for info since Magellan provides basical no support, even when it was supported.

Really? I love that little coin! Had to get a bunch!

    Bec

    Yes, really 🙂

I’m glad you like it. I originally designed it over a year ago as a full size coin. But then the geocoin market went weird for awhile, I’m glad it has made it to being an actual coin 🙂

One of these years maybe the schedules will work out so we can finally attend one of the campouts.

I would like to express interest in getting one (or more if multiple participants offer) in trade. I would gladly trade our personal coin, and possibly others. (our top40 record may be another option, or a couple of the new Hogwild stuff micro travel coins – my design)

I picked one up back then as well and also really like it. I had heard that some people had found some of the Aldi’s stores clearing them out for $39.95. but even at $70 its hard to beat, and the ability to use rechargable AAA batteries as well.

I’m going to be ordering a cable for it as well (pc-mobile) to make it easier to load caches. and maybe the pda-gps cable as well.

Looks nice. Would like to trade our personal coin for one.

Trackable and its own icon. I do believe that its us, NSLP and Zuma have three coins out of a set of forty. Its thirty-seven cachers from around the globe and our three. It is called Geocaching the top 40.

Yes, we are part of that set 🙂
“Oh Where, Oh Where has our little cache gone” 🙂

What goecacher out there dosn’t have this “KIT” already up and running? I mean all cachers got the GPS, some kind of compass, a cache already set up.

That works for one on one presenting and teaching, the problem comes in when you have more that just afew people.

I think that most looking for a presentation kit are going to be showing over a dozen people at a time about geocaching. That requires several GPSr units, and would also be best to have the general info presented on a large screen. It would be great if we had a projector that could be used, even if it was an old slide projector that had the presention copied to slides. But a computer projector would be great.

I’ll be helping Hotdogs off trail and natloh2 this coming weekend with a live presentation at a cub scout event. We helped last year, and while we all bring our GPSr units and any spare we may have, it would be good if we had afew more to use. We were able to go in small groups of 3-6 to hunt the temporary caches we hide. It would be great to have 1 per scout instead of 1 per 3-4 scouts.

Also I do not advocate group training using listed geocaches. So having some containers for temporary hides helps as well, though since they are temp, even cheap food storage containers will work.

in reply to: Questions for Candidates – Attendance at Events #1768455

I think that WGA event and local event participation should be encouraged. While I have not attended any WGA event because of other family events planned then. So I can easily where participation should not be manditory.

I have attended several local, and not so local events. Also, not sure what mileage range constitutes local. There are not many events have been hosted much less than an hour drive from us. Yes, I know, we could host our own, and we may do that yet.

Though we went to the Port Washington Harvest of caches 2005, a Western WI lunch bunch meeting in Eau Claire (mentioned in my meet the candidated bio) as well as some of the more local ones (Fort Atkinson area) and have held some Paperless Training events (and plan on hosting some more)

in reply to: Questions for Candidates – WGA Logo change #1768483

I’m all for looking at logo alternatives. Just because we look doesn’t mean we change. but I seem to remember some comments about others that weren’t members wondering why we have “a shoebox and a PDA” as our logo.
