I have looked at a couple of the presentations posted elsewhere here, and have a suggestion for future presentations… Please dont overlay graphics onto the text using animations, it makes it really hard to print those pages for any other usage (such as handouts) because you can’t view the text or pictures underneath. Please just add another slide instead.
sorry for the delay.
I’m in SC WI (Mount Horeb to be specific)
We have one

Not So Lost PuppiesI know a couple others that do:
PCFrog
Team LightningbugsI do like some of the randomness of the positions with the cases. Though we have gotten hit pretty hard ourselves…
After 13 logs… we have averaged 23.8hrs… we have 2 more cases to pick, and there are only 2 of them left that are over 24hrs…
I picked 12hr start delay… then No Deal for our first pick because I only had one cache logged (was at the badger game) sunday I about 4 or 5 caches, but picked No Deal again to avoid a middle of the night pick.our last pick was 32hrs 🙁 before that was 4hrs 🙂 but that followed a 34hr pick 🙁
I only had 4 picks under 12hrs… and two of those were 8 and 7 in a row (made for a 1:30am log time)So, while our average is right around 24hrs, it has hurt our position quite abit because of the bad luck of having 6 of our picks 30hrs or more.
I can’t log until 11:45pm tonight (at least I don’t have to work tomorrow)But it is all in fun. Though I’ve heard the coin is very expensive.
does the m-100 use the same cradles as the m500? I may have a spare cradle.
I would take it and look at it, and then give it away to someone at one of our paperless training sessions if we get it working reliably.
There is one in a fairly challenging cache near Verona (10miles SW of Madison) that I put out last weekend.
Actually it is the second Green Jeep I’ve placed there, and is still a coin in there as well.Look at the map that you now have all the pieces from, in the lower left corner is a decoding ‘key’ to give you the secret phrase.
let me know if you need help with that.
by my caclulation, if you always pick suitcases, and you ALWAYS pick the worst ones, you still average about 24hrs per cache.
I have 4 caches left to do, and have ones picked out for them all already, should get them done tomorrow.
I didn’t have any built up to start, so I took the default 24hrs to start so I didn’t ‘waste’ a nice pick. Though I’ve had a 42 and 36 (balances the 7 and 8)

The other option could be to have a web link where a cacher could enter the coordinates and it could kick back a response that it is within XX feet or XX miles of the nearest published active waypoint and what bearing the existing waypoint is from the suggested coordinates. This wouldn’t have to be exact measurements or bearings just close enough so the cacher would know what direction they need to move the cache in order to satisfy the .10 mile rule.
Just my 2 cents.
I like that option. maybe even not any reference to the existing waypoint, just a ‘sorry’ that location is not available.
Of course that would require all the stages of multi’s to be entered into the system somewhere. I know the GC page has a place for entering the various stages now, but I don’t know how many have actually used it. (I did put in all the stages to Doggone Good Fun in verona afew weeks ago)
I voted yes, but want a little ammendment to it, I would be glad to not have caches in areas that should be actively protected, but I think those areas should also then be off-limits to all the other activities. It doesn’t make sense to allow hiking, hunting, snowmobiling, etc through the very same area we would want to place a cache. If there isn’t any problem with people hiking through an area, there shouldn’t be a problem with caches there. [provided all the other rules for the area are followed]
Don’t forget that one of the requirements is a Monument waymark… I got two of them listed last night: Lake Mills, Jefferson. would be nice if some others could get some more of them listed in the Madison vicinity (you can’t log your own waymark) [within 30 miles of Madison would be nice]
All it takes is a photo of the Monument/Memorial (see the category for details on what counts) along with description and coordinates.
Monument waymark categoryI will add my support for a revisiting of the SNA cache policy with the DNR.
If they do not want traffic in those area, then clearly state at those areas they are off-limits to ALL activity. Geocachers as a whole are not the ones trashing areas.
I also suspect that one of the reasons geocachers have been singled out is that it is because we are known group that they know how to talk to, and that they have a direct ability to contact. They can’t very well contact the unknown party groups that are trashing areas unless they catch them in the act.@PCFrog wrote:
😕 Bahhh 1st time trying one these and on suitcase I click I get “Page can not be found” Guess that is that. That sure is a great way to start.
I’ve seen others in the tcp forums that had the same problem, most of them end up with the 12hrs. as I did without the error.
Check the leader board and find your name, you’ll see your start time there. Our 100 was during the Coin Quest, and we needed an event… headed from Madison to Eau Claire. After the event we did some caches, and managed to get Old King, at a dog park for #100, we thought that was very appropriate for team “Not So Lost Puppies”
Chances are that after you complete a cache requirement, you will be given a clue that will help you solve the notebook pages.
In the past you were given a piece of a map, and the final piece had a decoding square that helped decode a hidden message in the map. Though there were many hidden messages in the map, only one was important.
I’m sure all will be revealed pretty quickly saturday.
