I put one out as a traveller:

Hope that I can actually give away a coin. That would mean it didn’t get stolen.

Not So Lost Puppies will be there to help (2 of us anyway)

I thought I read that the $10 was only if you wanted an event patch? It wont change our volunteering though.

I don’t really see it in the same category as geocaching at all. But I think there can be some good uses for it as the location database that it is. And maybe even as a travel guide. True you may not trust a person 500miles away as to the quality of the location, but that is what the other logs are for.

We, and most my family, travel with our dogs and this can give a much better idea of where off-leash dog parks are, since there isn’t really any other good way to find them for us if there isn’t a cache there with dog park in its title.

could be used for placing caches as well? such as finding more places to go along with your series, such as waterfalls.

Of course their site needs some further work, bring it more inline with the geocaching site in terms of providing distances, etc.

No, no date yet. I know that I need to start working on that though, as well as location. currently I’m thinking one of the Madison Libraries on a Saturday in late Jan or in Feb.

The Madison public libraries have wireless access, so that will it much easier to show the entire process. Plus as I stated before I’ll have some palms available for hands on use (and later sale) I’m currently testing some of them out to make sure they are fully functional.

I plan on having a couple palm m500 series (m500, maybe m515) available for purchase after the class. Costs will be very comparable to what they are going for on ebay now, but you will be able to see its actual condition

    22 left.

Most all of those with 15 are waiting for an event.

you could try to get to this one tonight http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?guid=d3efea73-2aed-4c26-8555-2a5c bbacd6b9

Not many events before the 10th, and on the 10th most are not morning events, so if you get to the breakfast and can get on a computer you have a chance yet.

Many are lamenting the lack of an event until the 10th

There is also a large group at 14 that must be waiting for an event and waiting for a placment to be approved.

I’m will keep some for future trades, and I’ll release a couple and see how long they move about.

And afew for FTF prizes as well in future caches.

We also finished up our cache requirements Saturday, good thing too because it certainly isn’t nice weather to do them today.

Haven’t really started to look at the coded messages yet either, will be doing that soon though. I did just see that is something about the palm trees??

I had tried plucker but not spinner, and just didn’t find it very convenient for loading caches into the palm. I have found GSAK and CacheMate to be worth their costs in terms of time saved and ease of use.

But would be glad to have anyone that uses these be part of the event.

I saw a notice that you should be sure to double check your entries to make sure they link back to the actual caches.
Bunny… I see that one of yours has your name for the cache name instead of the cache name. the link works properly though.
Wouldn’t want you to slip due to any technicallity.

12 spots behind you and 7 behind LightningBugs. and about 12hrs behind in log times.

This is a fun way to do some extra caching

I use a Palm M500. While that model is a couple years old, is uses USB to sync and supports SD cards for expansion, and has an available hard case to protect it from drops
I’ve been watching on ebay recently and they have been going for up to $50, I personally wouldn’t spend more than $50 for one from ebay.
I would stay away from any of the earlier Palm Pilot Pro, or Palm III, etc. there are a couple auctions I saw with an old Palm III that didn’t specify that was the model, very misleading, the picture showed it though.

For Geocaching you would want to be able to use an SD/MMC card to store your cache info on, or else get one with at least 16mb available memory.
I have about 7000 caches which uses about 22MB on my 128MB card right now. (some of those are duplicates in different databases for trips)
If you are looking at new ones from Palm, something like the Tungsten. Some of the Zire screens can be hard to read in the sun.
Looks like all the new palms have available hard shell cases which I think is a must for geocaching.
Check out the palm store factory outlet for some deals as well: http://store.palm.com/family/index.jsp?categoryId=1179667
also the regular store and special offer links on that page.

Only 4 left to complete, then wait to log them all. (waiting for approval for the one I placed yesterday, so there will be another FTF opportunity west of Madison)

Move a bug (happening this afternoon)
    River Cache
    Forest Cache
    Graveyard Cache

I already know which ones to use for them, just have to actually find them
