Who is in charge at Groundspeak, and how do I email him?
We were quoted a specific price and procedure for ordering 70 Travel Bug dogtags for our school kids. We followed directions precisely, but I was billed almost $30.00 more than the quote. Our order was based on the specific amount of money we had in hand, so the extra will come out of my pocket.
I have sent four emails to the person at Groundspeak who provided the quote, over the span of the last three weeks. None of these have been responded to.
I guess it is time to go to the top.
Thanks for the info.
Grandpa
If you received a bill only pay the portion you were quoted with a copy of the quote enclosed.
If you already paid and it was done by credit card write your credit card company with a copy of the quote and ask that the difference be refuted.
If you paid some other means or have no copy or written proof of the quote then you paid what they wanted you to pay and it’s a she said he said issue.
Basically if you’re able to deal with your Credit Card Company or short change them so they have to get a hold of you.

You may be plagued by a clandestine collector. You can decrease the value of your coins to such a collector if they are not perfect. Some cachers have taken to drilling a hole in the coin and attaching a mission card. This may keep your coin moving for quite a while longer. ~tb
Not only do I drill a hole now I also take a grinder to the side of the coins and make 3-4 deep marks.
This admittedly is something that I don’t like to see as well. Here are the GC.com regs/rules/ guidelines
“As the cache owner, you are also responsible for physically checking your cache periodically, and especially when someone reports a problem with the cache (missing, damaged, wet, etc.). You may temporarily disable your cache to let others know not to hunt for it until you have a chance to fix the problem. This feature is to allow you a reasonable time – normally a few weeks – in which to arrange a visit to your cache. In the event that a cache is not being properly maintained, or has been temporarily disabled for an extended period of time, we may archive or transfer the listing.”
I had bad luck in the past just simply asking a owner their status with the cache so generally I just send a little FYI to a reviewer so they can officially post a notice to an owner. Some reason in my experience most owners get pissed when you ask about their 4+ month temporarily disabled cache.
The reviewers and very good at following up on these as well.

That said, here is a list of ways to delay (or completely prevent) getting your cache listed:
- Place your cache on private property and don’t provide contact info for the property owner on the cache listing
Avoid all this stuff and your caches should just fly right through the review process.
I know providing names of the person who own or gave permission makes since and have done so on my own caches. The thing that I always thought was odd is the fact some have pointed out those cachers don’t like their real names used and like the anonymity of the user name. Some cachers mentioned getting calls from people looking their number up or a possible stalker tracking down their kids and such.
I do know why we provided that info, just incase a cacher needs to provided such information to law enforcement or others.
I ask this not to cause an uproar or anything but to point out that in no way would I want to state my name or contact info on GC.com other than my email, yet we provided such information about the property owners who gave us permission to put a cache on thier land.
My point here is then why is it ok to list these owners’ names or DNR personnel names in the listing?
Food for thought….
WOW.
Congratulations

I just added that we also need lighter fluid for the charcoal.
Just use cache logs to get them started…
I will bring a bag of charcoal

Heres my take- things that represent the state – but, theres caches too!
img – omited
A little larger file, so please be patient! Front, and back.
The colors are translucent with textures underneath – EXCEPT for the robin, muskie, and lighthouse. Coin should be in antique or satin gold – with textures in the background.Nice looking design. Is there a way to make it so the Muskie does not look like its hung up on a cache?

Oh almost forgot the deadly paper cut from log book. Dang those hurt also. 😆
Deet poisoning
Bleed to death from thorn scratches
Mosquitoes as bio weapons
Ammo can rigged to deliver electric shock if open incorrectly
Poisonous snakes in cache
Compass tampered with to display wrong north to make person lost. It’s really hard to beat the 35mm film can.

are the areas where caches will be hidden open to dogs? what about the campfire and pancake area?
My reply is based off of DNR rules and past events.
DNR says pets are not allowed at:
- Buildings
Picnic areas and picnic shelters
Beaches, except the designated “dogs allowed” beaches listed above.
Playgrounds
Marked nature trails
Cross-country ski trails when groomed for skiing
Observation towersNow at past events I have seen the following:
Pancake area off limits because it usually in a shelter which by DNR rules is a no no.
Campfire is fine since it is not a public picnic area but one individually reserved by the WGA.
Caches are hit and miss. DNR says Marked NATURE trails. This up to interpretation. I have seen trails marked NATURE trail therefore pets must not be allowed. However trails marked bike or hiking are fine.
Surre others might have thier own views. Main thing to me is pets should be controlled and if (uhmm) off leash should not be bugging others. 🙂
That’s cute…
😆
Thanks very much Zuma for the wonderful compliment.
