    😳

    Oh….

I thought “AOMHKE” was some code to be deciphered. lol not the code to log it. I made that one to hard. See this why I stay away from puzzle caches.

Love it! We needed an off topic forum!

Now to decide whether complaining about the weather is off topic to geocaching, or not!?

Well if your talking about geocaching and what the weather going to be like or was then it is.

The weather in Italy is nice but I don’t think I’m going to do a cache today after work.

The PCFrog gang will be at our own site for the 1st time. We been staying in the group site for the past 4 times so we decided to try something different

I had same problem before and thought I did something wrong as well. Seems that this might not be the case. Also, My PQ are coming a day late or not at all.

    GC.com log

Take a look and let me know how you would be tactful in writing to this person, or would you…..

He’s a newbie, give him a break. I would send him a friendly note asking him to return to the site and sign the book. I might explain to him that that is normally the way it is done.

    Oh so sorry.

I was referring to this post (1/16/2007) and meant to write the date on OP. I don’t check logs against the book but this person blatantly telling me they did not sign the log. Unfortunately I’m at odds on this and not to sure what my own stance is. Was wondering how others felt and their input.

hope you are not referring to me I drove within 60 feet of ir I don`t think I harmed anything with my truck

No this was not about you. Their were already tracks that go far and there is no set parking place there other than not in the creek.

The number of hits they are going to get just from people checking it out are probably going to be astronomical. (My prediction)

Wonder how many new accounts will be created in this coming month…

I would fully agree with you if this was the age before 9/11. Now, with every municipality thinking they are primary target for a bomb and the average Joe thinking that everyone is out there to blow someone up, the risk of placing a cache and it being mistaken is unfortunately high. I sure don’t want to become the target of a township for a bomb scare because I placed a harmless cache in a public park. The main difference between playing catch in the park and geocaching is that you’re not hiding your football for others. My direct point is I think your right, but you have to be willing to stand up and take the heat if it ever comes down for lack of permission/notification in a public park.

    Side note:
Geez look an electronic sign with LED that that light up displaying an image. CITY enters panic mode and then reaps 2 million due to its overreaction. Hope a cache does not get mistaken there anytime soon.

I was not flaming, just pointing out that it seems that you were being unforgiving. From your post and your take on mine, I would assume that you can’t take it.

Anyhow, I do find your remarks to counter what you said earlier. Yes I do read them all.

I appreciate all of your input. I guess I just don’t understand why a “policy” has to be in place to begin with. Probably a newbie thing.

You don’t know why but then later you say…

    @Jay Mills wrote:

Just because a phone answerer (not the manager) says not to place a cache means absolutely nothing to me unless it is supported with some documented policy I can read that states the same thing..

So, I guess to answer your post about why, you can read your own post.

This was not a bash or a flame post I was as stated just making a remark about how abrupt you seemed to be and defiant about how things just turned out.

Also, there are approximately 70 caches within 15 miles of the campout, so those who don’t like temps should have lots of other hunting to do.

Does anyone have a list or planning on making one of caches that they done in this area and recommend to others?

I like more of the hiking in the woods caches my self than the ones in towns and cities.

Another option in Cachemate, instead of using categories, is to use separate databases. You’ll notice a difference in performance by keeping the databases smaller versus putting everything in one database with different categories.

I use this technique when traveling across multiple states. I create a database for each day of travel which holds the caches for that route. I simply name the databases and routes day1.. day2.. ect.. I found this to be a simple way to switch to a new database and route in the palm and GPS unit while keeping things quite organized.

in reply to: SPRING Chippewa Valley Geocaching Event UPDATE #1769818

If possible please try to mark caches that are listed on GC.com with the attribute of Geodog friendly. Last years was great but did come across quite a few places that banned our beloved pet. Will be happy to hit a few of the caches and will try to make it to one of the events.
