What does gc.com offer that makes the difference. Some of us are already making sizable contributions to the organization and some have been doing this for quite a while. Others make very small contributions or none at all. And, yet there is no distinction; who does what. Some need no recognition for their contributions, others would like a little return. How can we float the greatest number of boats?
GC.com supplies a service. Pay for membership to GC.com you get added service and features.
Paying for premium membership on GC.com does not define you as being better or worse off than any other cacher. It just for those who like to get the added service.
WGA is a comunity/association what service should premium members get?
From what I read from this is premium would get nothing other than a higher social order while the rest have to ride in the back of the bus. This is my concern a distinct division among members would be created. As FuFu pointed out it could even be broken up into 3 groups: the Rich, the middle class, the poor.
The special WGA geocoins are to be what rewards those who contribute more to WGA than those who don’t.
Edited to make my concerns more clear.

TestI say sorry up front….
Sorry…
But I personally fully disagree. To charge a membership fee for premium members then turn around and spend such monies on letters, bumper sticker, premium member coin, and the a like defeats part of the purpose of the fee unless the fee is going to be very exorbitant. Secondly what else are Premium members going to want for their added contribution? Premier parking and camping spots, designated tables at shelters, special name tags from everyone else.
I could go on but not wanting to turn this into a social order issue or make it have a VERY negative tone. I just think it would lead too much separation in an association where few actually actively participate.
Hate to bust your bubble but….. POP
I posted a similar topic not to far back which you can read here. Roll Call

There you go…
Buy something made to have water in it to keep the water out.Really simple if you think about it – if water can seep out it sure can seep in.
I went paperless a few months back and still can’t believe I waited so long to do so. At 1st it was a lot to set up but once you got your steps down it is actually very easy.
I used GSAK awhile back in Dec to plan a cache route for my trip to Florida and back. Using the Arc feature I was able to identify all caches along my drive that were within 5 miles of the freeway. This combined with the PDA made caching on a long trip very rewarding for when it came time to make a stop we could find which exit had caches.
I use:
GSAK for management and GPSr waypoint uploads, and cachemate prep
cacheamte for PDA (Palm)I think it would be nice if there was a kit that could be made up that was checked out by members. Such a kit would contain 4-5 GPSr units, a banner, extra manuals for the GPSr units, and possible some type of swag (sticker, business card or alike for those who attend these training events).
This Kit can get very expensive fast (approximate cost)
4 GPSr – $360
1 case – $50
Some type of promotional swag – $5-15Things that I can think of off the top of my head. By no means I ‘m setting rules here just thoughts I had and tossing out for suggestion and ideas of what needs to be considered.
Check out – 1 person would be basically keeper of the Kit. This person would maintain all items in the Kit and would check it out to others. Once Kit is returned it would be checked by this person* (this important part here). People would have to sign up via web form and such info should be displayed on the WGA.com for others to use to plan when they could check it out. Time for check out should not exceed two weeks. That’s more than enough time for delivery to and from in this state and have time to hold an event. Failure to do this can result in loss of privilege to check out the Kit for a set period of YEARS. If person can not meet such guidelines due to lack of time then they should not be using the Kit.
How to get it to others – if someone could not pick the Kit up in person the Kit could be mailed to the person** and the kit could be mailed back.
A pelican case could be purchased to contain the items and also be used for the shipment. These would eliminate need for packing material. For an example of a pelican case click here.
There far more that rambles through my head but I think you get the point. I might sound harsh when it comes to restrictions but consider this. Two events that are 2 weeks apart and you’re the second event. The person who checked out the Kit failed to mail the kit back within 1-2 days after their event. Now you are no longer able to get the kit yourself.
Anyhow that’s what I think…

* This is where a liability statement would have to be singed and have actual legal bearing. The person who checks it out assumes complete liability for the Kit and all its contents. If a GPSr unit(s) were returned non functional that person would be responsible for the replacement cost. I say again replacement cost, not the estimated value of item based upon when it purchased.
** Shipment would be made via UPS insured to value or USPS certified with insurance.
Now only if cachemate would do some upgrades. The software is nice but I have run into times I wish I could sort caches by type or do a search database for a word in cache name.
EDIT – YES
DELETE – NODo you mean only 12 people voted?
Someone did ask for an opinion….
Here is what I think. (again)
I make spelling and grammar mistakes. Most of time I don’t even catch them due to the fact I have horrible habit of knowing what I saying and miss what’s actually typed. At times I make gross errors that I notice later. So, I like being able to edit those gross errors which can lead to confusion and therefore people do not get the intent of the post.
Being able to delete a post is helpful but at same time as you stated eliminates information someone might be looking for good or bad. This happened to me once and I thought I was loosing it. Later someone stated that they deleted the message.
When doing the coin I created several treads to help organize the discussions. I did not want one large tread that covered suggestions, voting, submission, and general yak for it would be hard to read the mix of post. Some people expressed that they did not care for this so I later deleted those once those topics once they were completed. The unfortunate part of this they are no longer around for reference if needed.
While I think post should not be deleted and part me thinks people should be allowed to remove a post if they changed their mind. While I don’t know if it’s possible a feature that would allow a poster to delete a post within 2-3 hours of posting would be nice but after that it basically is permanent. Removal of a post would then be by admin means only.
How many errors did I make here?
Sorry to many caches that are to far away. As the bird flies they are not that far but by car… Ughhh.
Go Team Honeybunnies….
