I and family are looking at coming but still have not found specific pets regulations for that park.

Only found this “Portions of the Rock Island State Park campground”

Anyhow if we can bring our dog this will more than likely be of an interest to us as well.

    edit part insert

We would also like the group site unless this is off limits to pets.

    That’s what http://www.walgreens.com/storelocator/find.jsp is for.

I and others (probably) thank you for abandoning that project.

While there will probably be some good places marked out there they will be swamped probably by the thousands of parking lots and fast food chains that someone thought others would like to know about.

    DING!!!

That was it. I was making a large number of them yesterday and must hit that button since it says last generated has same date.

I got so used to ignoring that button that I forgot it was there.

    Thanks yall….

    OUCH

I spent several days trying to draw a badger that did not look like a skunk and even stated that I had no luck on making one.

    Sorry you felt that way.

Someone on GC.com already does that and some people have mixed feelings. The 1st time I saw a post about it a lot of people seem to be against it. Fast-forward to now and there is more support for it since people are getting tired of coins coming up missing. The guy uses some type of blank coin and adheres the photo copy to it.
A link to one of the post on GC.com

I personally think it’s a neat idea but on the other hand if I found a cache expecting to see a coin and came across a copy I would be seriously disappointed. It’s a different experience to hold an actual coin in hand and feel its weight and touch the design. If I wanted to see a photocopy I would just go to http://www.cointracking.com and look at everyone’s collection.

Until people stop stealing the coins a duplicate might be the best solution.

As with all things, not everyone going to like it.

Unfortunately this is occurring more often since geocoin collecting is becoming more of the thing to do. Other people who are releasing their coins out are defacing them in some manner to assure that they are not worth collecting. For example some are actually drilling a hole in the coin to attach a tag stating the coins purpose. This takes care of defacing the coin while letting those who may not know that the coins purpose is to travel not for keeps.

I bought two coins myself, one to permanently add to my coin collection (an actual coin collection) and the other to actually show around and hold. I do hope that those who bought several are able to release them and the coins travel without being stolen.

The WI coin to me does look great, I might be bias, and it would be a shame to have to drill a hole in the coin to insure its longevity.

Since I did not hear anything from anyone else I asked the question on GC.com and got the following back from Clyde who seems to be the “man” when it comes to GSAK since he is basically answering everyone’s questions. Probably the guy who made it.

Anyhow I tried what he said and I was able to get all the information moved over.

    I used %smart=15

    ClydeE

    quote:

I am not sure what the maximum length Cachemate will accept for the name, but if the first nn (where nn is the “maximum characters” you have set in GSAK) characters are the same, then Cachemate will reject this them as duplicate waypoints.

So you should really use combination of special tags that will ensure you have unique named waypoints. One solution is to use the %smart=nn special tag. %smart will generate a GSAK smart name that is guaranteed to be unique.

    Ok…

This did not take long for me to come up with a question.

I have 524 waypoints in GSAK.

When I export to cachemate it only preps 509 waypoints.

    1. Why only 509? – I have the setting on don’t limit
    2. How in the world can I tell which ones were left out with out doing a 1 to 1 comparison?
