Trekkin’ and I both have Friday off. At the moment, the forecast looks great, but yesterday it promised rain and winds.
Campout?

Hey all,
I plan on going after The Artful Dodger while at the campout. This is a very long cache, a 3 stage multi, with a twist. I found the first waypoint last weekend while down there hiding temps, and want to finish it at the campout.
For more info on The Artful Dodger, see GC585B
I will be leaving from the registration area around 1100 on Saturday morning, May 17. Please let me know if you want to join me. One of the waypoints is near Jeremy’s virtual, I’m King Of The World, GC6876, so we will stop there as well.

My dog wants to know if your dog is going to be there?

I’m assuming for temp caches, but one of the big arguments of temp-cache-logging-detractors is that “they don’t have meet published cache guidelines.” Do CITO temp caches have to? If not, again it is an issue of consistency.
To play the devils advocate here, if temps were recognized, how do you regulate them? What would stop someone from sitting at a table and say there are 5 caches right here for you to log. Or better yet, just trade spreadsheets of caches the way people do coin discoveries.
Don’t get me wrong – I think people should be able to log temps since Groundspeak hasn’t taken a stand. (There certainly are enough rules for everything else) But the solution might not be as simple was it appears.
What stops you from doing that to regular caches? Only personal honesty…

Hey all,
I am wanting to visit Trekkin and Birdin’s great new Earthcache next Sunday Feb 17. Looks like the perfect cache for a long walk with friends, old and new.
The GC # is GC19697
Who would like to join me? I am thinking of meeting at the Visitor’s Center at 10:00am. Those who live in Eau Claire or La Crosse areas can ride down there with me.
As time allows, we can hit a few other caches in the area, including lagrac’s Earthcache, just a few miles from this one.

Is This still an option now that the snow is gone?
Were the publicly listed already?
While hiding the item did they make sure they were not being watched?
Lowrance is at 4 – Awsome
Mine is always 100% accurate.
It shows me exactly where IT thinks it is, all the time.

A question I have about this logo, which strikes me as a good update of the existing logo, is whether this will look dated in a few years? I know it’s a generic GPS unit, but how much different will units look in 3 or 5 years? I’m guessing the ammo box is pretty timeless.

I would suggest that if a new logo is created that there is some understanding that no changes in logo should occur over the next 5-7 years.
Reason:
It takes time for a logo to become recognizable by those not directly associated to the organization. This would allow due time for individuals to identify with the logo and establish an connection with the WGA itself. What could be allowed:
Minor changes in the logo can occur over the years as touching up the graphic. For example if you take our current logo you would keep the same items but could possibly update the look of the GPS unit and the container. You WOULD NOT however change the position of the items.Just a suggestion to consider…
That is why I sugested that what ever logo is picked, that every few 3-5 years an update be made if needed.

Points made above. It is clear now that your “updated” version would look more like the existing logo than does your photo-realistic concept.
I can make the vector look just like the one displayed here. So, yes what you see here is what you can get. I use the term concept for the fact that tweaks to the GPS, ammo box, map, and others can be changed.
Now the drop shadow around the logo is only to make it stand out more from the white page.

Feedback is appriciated in any form and designers have tough skins we can handle anything including, “I think it sucks” (or words to that effect).
A couple of constructive things to consider:
One: scalibility.
The size shown in the forums is only for purpose of having it displayed on the forums.
I can not have to forums as far as I know display an .AI file. I believe it only supports .JPG or .GIF, and possibly a .PNG. This eliminates the use of a vector graphic.
However, I do agree the final design that is chosen should be made into a vector format but don’t see how that has a bearing on the sample shown in its current size, or did I miss your point?
Just for clarification I’ve been in the graphic arts field for over 17 years know the uses of vector and raster graphics. One must take into account the ability of the medium in which it is being used.
I did not change the GPS unit since I think a generic one that was not made by the major three companies is appropriate in order not to have the WGA favor one over the other.
I however did make a few changes on the ammo can. I made the lid look open better and added the sticker on the side that all well marked containers should have.
Do you even know what type of GPS it is?
Anyhow, I could not find a Garmin with a color screen that was easy to read like the one pictured. 😆
As some have mentioned, here is a possible updated version of the current logo. I thought since it was mentioned that the current logo just needs a little updating that it should be considered.
