Thanks everyone! School and work have limited our geocaching time and ability to get to breakfasts the last couple of months. We had a free weekend and went to do a cluster of Sidnaw’s caches near Poynette. Cherokee Challenge was 800. We like all kinds of caches but the puzzle/math type is one of our favorites. We always enjoy meeting and chatting with other cachers. Happy geocaching.

Think a trip to get some pens would get them off that number quickly.

Since my next task tonight is to enter bird counts for Project FeederWatch this birdy thread was interesting to me. We have seen the cranes in the general area mentioned this year already too. Usually there are Sandhills in the Vernon Marsh near Mukwonago. And in summer they sometimes can be seen in the fields around there and even in the park with Place of the Bears geocache.
A good place to visit with kids is the Crane Foundation near Baraboo, which has many kinds of cranes and lots of information.
One of the first migratory birds to arrive back north is the male red-wing blackbird, who arrives before the females to stake out a territory and they can be very defensive of that territory as some joggers have noted. We have seen quite few of these males in cattail areas already this year too
This week we have misguided robins visiting our heated birdbath and the raisins and apples pieces we put out to help them.

Congratulations on your milestone. We have come across some of your folded cache treasures and know even before we read the log that you have been there. Happy geocaching.

I feel that the new board needs to continue to attain the goals that the present board has set. We need to continue to strive to become a non-profit corporation and we need to continue working with the DNR and other governmental bodies to obtain permission to place caches within their jurisdictions. We also need to work on obaining membership of all active geocachers that cache in Wisconsin. We also need to have a formal Cache Rescue program to remove abandoned caches and to repair damaged caches.

    and

What primary issues within the geocaching society do you forsee requiring attention within the next 3 years?

Hindsight is always better than foresight but I can see the need to have a more formalized membership definition and, possibly, a membership dues. I think we also will need to look at the areas in which caches can be placed and make more formal definitions in that area. These issues can be overcome by the geocaching community working and talking with each other and the community.

We send our congratulations too. I think you were the first WI cacher that we met on the trails (actually looking for Romance in the air? in Jan of 2002). Thanks for your contributions to the “sport”

    Congratulations!!
300 in less than a year is quite a pace especially doing it with young children.
