How often is it updated? If it is automatic shouldn’t it be the same day? Our racer was finally dropped in a cache on Dec 14th but the drop hasn’t shown up in the race yet.

Our son introduced us to geocaching in November 2001 and we logged under an individual name then but started using the team name in December 2001

Thanks for posting. Choosing the ones for the scenery was the hardest with so many good ones.

I tend to like the ones done by Hillary E and of hers that we have, like Iowa best. Is there a way to see ones you do not have?

We were on the Keys for a class at BSA Sea Base in Jan 2009 and agree with the 3 suggestions by Astro D. We had a free day and drove down to Key West doing some caches that interested us along the way. I was going to suggest No Name Key GCBD18 and Ramrod GC19GWY short multis but they have been archived. Layton Trail Triple GCMEVZ is still active and is a multi on a small trail through a hardwood hammock in the tiny town of Layton. One to do just for the fun of the object is If You Build It—They Will Come NOT GCMYYY.

Just to give an idea how fast geocaching was growing in 2001 here are some numbers: Tie’s in August was 19xxx, a individual one we started with in November was 27xxx and the team one we now use from Dec is 32xxx

Thanks everyone, this thread was just brought to our attention. Since we just passed our 8yr geocaching anniversary the number is due mainly to longevity. We usually try to do a multi or puzzle for the centennial numbers but sometimes one we DNF’d previously. We are always glad to meet and have a chance to talk to other geocachers on the trails.

Thanks Tie, I was about 1/3 done working on a grid like that

in reply to: Book discussion—geocaching books? #1914625

It sounds like a very interesting book. I am going to see if any of the local bookstores or library have it.

We have some seed collection experience, so we will be watching for the date to be selected and will try to attend.

Like Digital Dan we are from an area that had very creative hiders of multicaches. Now archived ones by Badlatitude and JThorson come to mind. Ranger Boy is still creating them and has many active ones longer than 2WPs. Rebus and Tutt-Head GCVBVB, Joe Belch Ace Gum GCNR2A are two with solvable puzzles at each WP. After doing several of his caches a good multi challenge would be Hissy Fit GC12804. Actually a 2 stage Just Another 35 mm Film Canister in the Woods GC1C84G involves a nice hike. There are quite a few other that could be listed also.

in reply to: Rabies shots sure sting!!!! #1905886

The injections at the bite site were 1/2 the amount of the rabies immune globulin, the other half given IM. The RIG is dosed on the weight of the bitten person and many times even before the shortage more than the hospital stocked was needed and had to be obtained. The remaining doses should be like the one yesterday.

Karen (hospital pharmacist half of pharmteam)

    Congratulations from us too
