I knew that it would eventually disappear but I never thought to would happen within 2 months of being put out. Oh well guess I will put the other three out and see how long they last. 🙂
I don’t have a problem with caching in them I see cemeteries as a place to celebrate life, too many people look at cemeteries as the end of life when in actuality they are the beginning of a new journey. Caching just adds another dimension but people need to be respectful of them and those who are there. If done correctly there is nothing wrong with doing it.
We enjoy the Spirit quest for several reasons. My wife and I have come across a few of the locations where they are older cemeteries that seem to have been forgotten. After we make the find we have spent time cleaning up some of the graves that have been taken over by weeks and vines.
Last year one of our final finds was the Les Paul site with our grandson. When we took the boy home and the parents asked about the day we told them about the last find. They were amazed as they only live a mile or so from that cemetery but were unaware that he was buried there.
But we enjoy walking and reading the history on the spirit quests we always respect and honor those who are in their final resting places. We think WSQ add value to the adventure of geocaching.
I just can’t believe that people would be so disrespectful. Really a shame a few spoil for many really takes this fun out of all of this.

If you mean in Wisconsin, cemetery hides require proof of permission to the reviewer when submitting them, unlike in the olden days when it was just assumed you had gotten it. So that has cut down significantly on new placements.
Are there guidelines posted somewhere for placing a WSQ?

Why the change were there problems with the placements?
Well I for one have learned a lot from this discussion and know in the future I will take more time when it comes to logging, I never gave the consideration so many people have brought up here.

Then why log them? Just find them for fun and leave it at that.
Really?
wow rc you really missed the point. I log them NOT because I am in a hurry but just because it is convenient to do. Yesterday we did two WSQ and we spent a good 30 mins at each place walking around and looking at the stones once we found the cache. Reading post it seems like to may of you this is more a competition for my wife and I it is a fun little hobby. Instead of getting irritated appreciate that someone took the time out of their day to find your cache. One of the things I have noticed is that people put a lot of emphasis on the number of finds they have or numbers of hides they have. For myself it is all about spending time outdoors enjoying a simple game of hide and seek, not who I am trying to impress.

Please also be aware that the Cache Owners do not receive edits to “found it” logs from Geocaching.com. the only way to know that a TFTC post was edited to include an in depth log would be to visit the cache page. If there is no indication that there will be more coming, I don’t believe too many owners go back to check.
Ok I will keep that for future reference I guess I will just wait to enter the find in the future.
After rethinking the original letter I may have overreacted here and I apologize to that cacher who sent it to me. You actually did make sense.

Congrats on your first hide! I just did my first hide a week ago and I am now finding myself out hiking around wilderness areas after work snapping photo after photo of potential hiding spots 😀
I guess there are much worse things to be addicted to, right?
Absolutely agree with that. It really gets into your blood this geocaching. We have now hid our second cache earlier this summer.
The chrome bison tube in the woods at dusk……my eyes just aren’t as good as they once were. 😆

Thanks for the geohunter suggestion! I also have an Android based phone (Droid) and have been trying to figure out how to get cachemate to work, and it’s been like pulling teeth…
be sure to add GPS STATUS app in order to get the radar.
I have an Android Eris and use GEOHUNTER. Its a lot like GEOBeagle but offers a few more features.
