Thanks for the warning! I’ve figured out the final (finally, you evil sneaky person) and am waiting for the weekend so the Pierogies can help me find it. You have REALLY made my brain hurt with all these. PQ
I’m shocked when I actually find something *I* want to trade for…the best so far was corn holders from a great cache in Racine. But my kids are big traders and are REALLY dissappointed with the junk caches. I have a bag of left-over party items from my kids parties (you buy by the dozen, and only have 9 guests)….necklaces, rubic’s cubes, beanies, little stuffed animals, squishy frogs… That being said, my littlest’s favorite item is an imitation gold-plated fork that is now her “special” fork for dinner. We check our caches often and try to keep them nice. So far, that has not been a problem (thanks to everyone who traded nicely in them!)
We just use a large rubermade box. Wheels would be cool, didn’t think of that. We just use an old luggage cart instead. Stove gets piled on top of the box. Works well so far. PQ
We have coyotes in our back yard (Kenosha). Most are scared to death of us and will bolt if they even see our shadow in the window. Two years ago we had a pair that were fearless, however…sat not 20ft away and watched my little pierogies play on the swingset during broad daylight. Of course the kids think they are cute and want to see them up close and personal. At least they know they aren’t to touch animals w/o my permission! Most come out at dusk and are “in bed” by dawn. If you know they are denning, I’d move the cache. PQ
Any of the caches in the IL/Lake County forest preserves are ski friendly. You’ll have to drop your skis to bushwack the final distance, but usually it’s not too far in. Old Schoolhouse forest preserve in Libertyville is especially good for this. PQ
Thanks for the tip….lately everything I’ve been doing is only supported in IE, so I’m happy to find something to make my fav browser work better. PQ
When your last name ends in “ski” you get a lot of nicknames in your life….this one was the most common and lasted the longest (and I actually answer to it: HEY POLSKA! Whaaaat?!)
PS: the origin of honeybunnies is fabulous
Pepper spray. What a great idea. I need to get some! I cache alone or with family for all the reasons already posted. I have recently run into some other cachers on hides and it has been fun. As of yet, I have only felt creeped out once caching, and so I got back in the car and went home.
Thanks for the help. I cleaned things up this morning. Hopefully the two remaining TBs are really in the cache……or will soon be claimed. PQ
