Bobcat-
I knew it was coming, and missed the “big day” – D’oh !
Congrats on reaching your goal, and I for one am Proud to say I have had the opportunity to cache with you.
Looking back, you were the 3rd finder of my first cache, and offered me some much needed encouragement over the rest of my caching history. You and your hides have taught me alot, and shown me some cool places – so Thanks Again !I need some ideas on hiding an orange matchstick container, and Im out of camo tape, so . . ..
(Can I get away with that?Way to Go Bobcat! ! !
Done!
I cant find my oringal email from when I signed up –
Is there a way to tell when your membership expires? I want to make sure Im renewed, and current.
Thanks
PeteI have dialup, and was able to download the file without growing a beard waiting for it. It was actually under 5 minutes.
Its the fact that my computer is 3 yrs old that is preventing me from running it at homeAt work, it is Awesome! I hadnt found the way to sort them yet, so Thanks for that tip!
Ah, technology!Since 1998, I have been stung close to 35 times, in a total of about 6 incidents……(after living 29 years without being stung) Then, 2,7-10 stings at a time.
Now, I realized I am alergic to yellow jacket stings- Gotta carry my pills and shot….. Or else-Working at the cabin, I have HAD to learn to inspect everything closely before reaching anywhere I cant see. I tend not to search anything I sense could be a nest. DNF? How about DNGS? (Did Not Get Stung) or DNGSAD (without alegeric pills, stung in the neck, etc you can die- aka-did not get stung and die
If they get you, they got you- they dont miss, so Move Fast, Dont swat and hope, Really Hope you get away before they get you. Just Dont Disturb them, and you should be fine. Move slowly, back away, dont swat.
Well, that is just my impression anyway, sitting here having flashbacks of buzzing swarms with pain, rushing to emergency rooms many miles away, etc-
Be Careful, I guess is my best advice-
I think that it gives off too much odor, of whatver kind of stuff they make it out of.
I have critters trying to get into my caches that are in containers that never contained anything with a scent, so im assuming that would cause some problems. I never realized how many small critters live in and around areas I made my hides, until I found all the tiny chew marks. They have never seen plastic, and want to chew it to find out if its food, etc-
Id be tempted to CITO it, but I’ve never run into that in a cache, or felt I had to remove anything for my opinion on it being good or bad, so . . . .
With heat, cold, critters and so on, I just dont think it is a good thing to leave in the woods. Oh, and the non natural aspect, I dunno what that stuff is made of, but if it isnt nature happy, then you have that problem too. . . .
Just my .02599
Maybe its in the woods over in Roseville ?
Just MN,WI,SD for me, but working on it!

Don’t let this forum turn into Groundspeak forums. If you don’t know what that means, spend some time out there….
I agree 100%.
Having left the mn boards due to a constant negative vibe over there (Maybe it was just me, or . . . ?) coming here was refreshing.
Ive only seen a small bit of the mood swing here- So i cant really speak to it much, other than to say PLEASE dont let it slide into a gc size problem.
If something is bothering you, take a break, get some air, do something outside – anything !Dont become one of those “I am holyier than thou, just because I have a keyboard” types…..
Always remeber, you might one day meet up with the person on the other end of your comments. They might not forget….

Way to go Bobr’ !
There was a topic on the gc.com forums about this- explains who the cacher was, what caches they hit(mtn-man caches), etc-
good stuff! You can read it here: http://forums.groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=79915
Oh, and within that topic, there is a link to a quicktime version of the piece.
To save you the time, Here is the quicktime link: http://www.midiresource.com/geocaching/cnn.html[This message has been edited by Pto (edited 09-23-2004).]
One thing I could point out is that, at this point Swiss Perpetual membership is low.
If you planned to search a Swiss in MN or WI, you would only have to worry about maybe 1-2 other cachers beating you to it.(At this point)For example, since SwissTracker has hidden a majority of the MN & WI caches, obviously He wont be searching them. That leaves Myself & 1 other tracker that you would have to worry about. If you were worried about me beating you to the hide just email me and I’d be glad to confirm for you I Won’t search it.
I greatly appreciate any and all comments, suggestions, caveats, concerns, etc. – Kepp them coming!

Cache check out.
SwissTracker is currently working out a procedure, where you “Check out” a cache when you plan to search for it. There is an area in the Swiss Forums, under caching details called
“Cache check out”
http://www.swissperpetual.com/Directory/viewtopic.php?t=68
Ooops, i guess it is a working link-
It is still evolving, so . . .[This message has been edited by Pto (edited 09-20-2004).]

Just by googling “geocaching placement guidelines” I got just page one of many state, county, and local websites with rules of placement.
Thanks for the tip! – I tried this out about 1/2 hr ago- and have been creating a list ever since. The Wi maps, combined with many others I have used/bookmarked will be a good start- but as you say fuzzy areas exist.
I wonder if the land mangers will view it any differnt, since a Swiss cache is a 1 time placement, being retrieved aftre being found?
That would eliminate any worrries of new trails being made, over use, etc. Only 2 sets of tracks- the hider, then finder.
Anyway, thanks again for the tip!*Slaps forehead**
I have found the very useful WI info on the WI resources page-State Natural Areas Map, etc-thanks!
