Excellent! I’m hoping we can make this one as well. The kids will be off having breakfast with Santa, so I think we’re free!

CONGRATULATIONS!!! That’s a terrific milestone! I am really impressed. Looking forward to putting a good dent in the next 1000 with you!

LOL You’re welcome. I’ll admit, I flip-flop, though. You just caught me in a moment of full-on typing. LOL

Having owned GSAK before Cachemate, I can’t imagine not having GSAK. It’s so nice to be able to sort things and filter out certain caches before loading them onto my Palm. GSAK is also a really nice way to just keep track of what you’ve found. To be honest with you, I don’t know how to load stuff onto Cachemate without it. LOL
I think everyone kind of geocaches differently so I don’t think it’s a matter of it being the “right” way to do it. It’s certainly the easiest way I’ve found thusfar, though. Just my two cents! LOL

I’ve never cached alone, just because I’m not sure I’m comfortable doing that quite yet. I’ve been tempted to cache on my own several times but just haven’t. My husband cached on his own while on a business trip to California this summer. His experience was mostly positive but he did express that he wished I was with him to see some of the places he saw. (And to remind him NOT to leave the GPS on top of a mountain.)
We mainly cache as a couple or as a complete family of four. I enjoy caching with my entire family because the kids love running around and because our 5-year old is terrific at finding the cache! I also enjoy caching alone with my husband because we tend to really reconnect on our journey and we hit more caches than when the kids tag along. Just a fact of life. LOL We cached with BQ, Russell, and the Ecorangers at the Halloween event, and we enjoyed that very much. I also have plans to cache with BQ, Tami, and AuntiNae this month, which I’m also really looking forward to.

This is a wonderful thread to read. I’m always curious to know why people partake in the activities they do, and the responses to this question are fantastic.
We’ve only been Geocaching since June of this year, so I don’t have a ton of things to base it on. However, I can tell you that it has become a very enjoyable way for my family to spend time together. We have discovered places in the state we would not have otherwise visited and we’ve met people we would not have likely met without the planned activities of our fellow cachers.
I enjoy the challenges each cache brings and each find is another success. Sometimes it’s easy to listen to the voices in your head (not just the ones telling you to do horrendous things to Oreos) that tell you you’re not quite good enough. This is one fun way to prove you still have brain power and maybe a small bit of athletic ability you didn’t think you could muster up.
Anyway, I geocache for all those reasons and because it’s just plain fun.
Thanks for sharing all your reasons, too!

Poor Tami! Although now I know why BQ didn’t suggest Tami gets behind the wheel and why Tami suggested BQ as navigator next weekend. LOL Just kidding, Tami! Looking forward to seeing you.

I so badly wanted to attend this, but we had another commitment. I do hope there is another in the planning stages!

Very exciting!!! Thankfully, we’re done. LOL Can’t wait to see pictures when they arrive!

Woohoo! Go AuntieNae! I’m looking forward to caching with you next weekend. Maybe we’ll put a dent in that last 100!

    Congrats!

Excellent! That’s quite a fantastic achievement. Congratulations! Any tips or tricks you care to share with us “newbies?”

I am LOVING Cachemate. Mobipocket was just really slow and was more of a hinderance than a help. Plucker was an option but the set up scared the heck out of me. Too much work. Cachemate is so easy to set up and use. And it’s really fast and easy to pull up a specific cache. I know this sounds like a commercial, but I’m so glad I bought it. It’s always a pleasant surprise when something you purchased actually works like you hoped it would. LOL I can’t wait to get out there and use it!

Thank you!!! That article really helped. It showed me step-by-step, with graphics. Since I’m a visual learner, it made it really simple. Thank you again!
I really like Cachemate compared to Mobipocket, which was painfully slow. . . .

Congratulations, Uncle_Fun! I’ll have to check out cachemate. Haven’t heard of it. I’m using Mobipocket on my Palm right now and not sure I like it.
    Again, Congrats!

ROTFLOL! That WOULD be quite a story.
This is a possibility for us. We’re still fairly new to geocaching, but any reason to get away with the kids is good.
