Welcome. Most of the info you need is on the Geocaching.com website. You can get a real basic gps unit for $100 or under.
Your best bet might be to go out with a local team and try it. Maybe post your available dates and times and someone will let you tag along. Is the WGA seeking donations for the picnic again this year? I think I’ll have football tickets to donate again that could be used for a door prize or raffle.

Yeah, some geocacher is going to get there Christmas goose early this year, if they are not careful!

How about just having one cache at the event? A multi-cache that is! Thus all those temp caches would be stages of the mother of all multis!
More sightings reported in Waukesha Co.
Freeman articleThis is the farthest I traveled for a geocache.

This sign gave me a chuckle.

I would agree GCJXCC “Ruth” in Bayfield is in a great area. Also “Year One” GC8C40 is neat because it has lasted so long and you can see meat-eating pitcher plants!
The must see caches are GCG5VM, GCG5VW, GC1246, in Pattison + Amnicon State Parks which have spectacular waterfalls.
You should also cross over to Duluth. If you don’t have the money to visit the Big Apple check out GC89E8 “Mini-Mother of Exiles” for a mini-me version of Lady Liberty.
I thought GCMF9G “Watch this Cache” was a great multi that showed some interesting places in Duluth. Also the final drive is very scenic and the container is really cool.Is that Found or Hidden?
JK. Congratulations!
I believe there is also a setting to tell the unit which type of batteries you are using, alkaline or NI. Make sure that is on the correct match for your battery type.

Just a quick info question. How do you get the icons on the listing? Dogs, thorns, time limited…
Those are attributes. If you hide a cache you have the option of selecting “edit attributes” from the list on the top right of the page.
There is also a tool at Texas Geocaching that generates html code for the icons you select. You can then cut and paste it into your cache page. It is easy to use.I wish I would not have gone shopping, I got back at about 2:00pm and saw the coords had been posted. I know the service drive to access that back section of the Nature Center so I got to the location pretty quick, but not quick enough. Several teams beat me. Oh well I got a runner up prize and so did Folk Trackers who arrived about 2 minutes after I did. There was one consolation prize left when I put it the cache back.
I left and went to the front lot of the Center and saw Waukesha Wizards. He told me all about his race to the final. I mentioned I noticed the totem poles yesterday, but the park near them is really small and didn’t seem to fit the clues. I did a head slap when I saw it was the nearby nature center. Even if you knew the final was at Retzer, it is an awful lot of ground to cover. The Retzers left a very generous amount of property to Waukesha County for conservation purposes.
Oh well, still had a fun time working on this adventure. Thanks Magellan.I’m on patrol at Naga-Waukee tonight (6pm) if anyone wants to say hello.
Welcome. I like your name. It is cool…like The Fonz.
I’ll have to give that a try as I place my new cache to be called…
THE CHINA SYNDROME!
Whoops. I must have jumped in the gene pool when the lifeguard wasn’t looking. I didn’t notice your newer post with the explanation.
Cool. Now I understand, you have to designate a cache MO first. I didn’t have any like that so I was looking at my pages and not seeing any audit log feature. I’ll have to make my next one MO and give it a whirl. Thanks for the 114.
114? Must be a gene pool thing again!
