The Waukesha Co Parks have a spring and fall special rate of $2.25 for a daily. I thought it could be used at all the Co parks you visited that same day. I will have to double check that.
Also, there is no fee to walk or bike into one of these parks. The fee is ony for entering with a motorized vehicle.quote:

Hey you are correct! I did get the idea for a longer multi from Nature Hill. Also, the search for his Scarabidae Deltosum Gibbosum Delight’s 1st marker caused me to meet fellow geocachers for the first time and inspired me to think of creative ways to camoflauge markers, yet have them in plain sight. I used some of these techniques recently in Honey I shrunk the Cache, and 94th on 94 recently. Indeed people are making multiple trips to solve them.
I got an email from him around the time I was stuck on “Scarabidae”. He said he was quite busy and didn’t have the time for geocaching that he once did. Too bad, he has made some classics.
I can tell you the Waukesha County Parks are open year round and active. In fact the Winter Janboree is this month. The only thing that closes are some campgrounds.
I first noticed the term on a Where’s George bill report. Than I discovered a cache was located in the park I patrol so I checked it out.
I also use the GPS for travel and driving directions. Very handy when you are in a city you don’t know.
I can handle the cold, like last Sunday I spent over 3 hours at Lambeau Field and it was pretty frosty. However, when the temp gets in the single digits I consider other activities. Batteries die quicker, pens don’t write, ammo cans freeze to the ground and don’t want to open, etc.
I think the sport is definitely growing. I’ve been doing it for little over a year and I’ve noticed more and more new names in the logs, especially in the last month. Maybe there is some sort of Christmas effect due to people getting GPS receivers as presents!
What are the names of your caches and what county are they in?
I just got my new cache “cartoonist” approved rapidly and was astonished someone found it within hours!quote:
- Make sure someone else knows where you are going.
- If you don’t feel safe, don’t go there!
- Carry a cell phone
- Carry a flashlight
- Make sure you know your GPS well enough to find a way out, and always make a waypoint at your car so your can find it later.
- Carry extra batteries for all your gear
- A little pepper spray or mace isn’t a bad idea either, if not for a person, it works on mean dogs too!

Ditto on this list, in addition I…
Carry a whistle on a lanyard. This can be used to warn animals such as bear, mountain lion, cougar, etc you are coming so as not to startle them. Also to summon a search party should you get lost.
I leave a note in my car window of my name, phone numbers, date and time I left, and intended destination including gps coordinates.
Signal mirror, water, first aid kit, multi-tool, knife, waterproof matches.
Blaze orange, especially on your head, during hunting seasons!
Keep a list or program into your phone emergency numbers, DNR, County Sheriff, or State Patrol for the area you will be in.
No cell phone? How about a FRS, or CB radio with an emergency channel.
If possible let someone (family, ranger station, police)know where you will be hiking and when you expect to be back.
Hey thanks everyone! I’ve really enjoyed my first year; as many others have noted, GC has caused me to explore many places, near and far, I had never been too or would have known about. I’m glad Snake Den was placed in the park I patrol and tipped me off to this great hobby.
Has this ever happened to me? Wow! If I had dollar for every time I came across that situation during my ranger patrol duties I could retire and devote more time to caching!
What’s really interesting is when we run the plates and both cars come back to two seperate married people! Uh-Oh!Thank you, I will try it.
I use a Streamlight Stinger while on patrol and geocaching. It is small and very bright. It is also re-chargeable.
Sounds interesting, I will have to check the latest Otter adventures. I have time since I too am a nightowl…hoot hoot.
I have not been able to search for cache listings as it claims in the find mode. I put the geocache waypoint GC# in the search field, but it comes up empty. I gotta figure this out, it is a pain to scroll through page after page of the chapter list looking for the cache I am near. Anyone else having trouble with this?
Nice move. I wish I would of thought of that. I did buy some XM Satellite radio about a year ago for about $4. It has gone up to $16 recently and I sold it.
GPS navigation and Satellite radio are becoming more common in new cars. -
