I usually buy 1 or more shirts at every event, as many members do. I think the generic shirts have run there course, and it is time to start making shirts that are event specific.  I am currently wearing my Interstate WGA shirt from the event in May 2013.  I have a collection of the shirts from several events, and would like to see upcoming events sell more than the generic WGA shirts.

I think that is a good idea but I also think part of the reasoning for the generic WGA shirts was because it is hard to plan what to order and the WGA ends up with leftover shirts.  Maybe it would be a good idea to design the shirt, quote the price and let members preorder what they want.  Of course you could add a few to the order if wanted but the WGA would be less likely to end up with an abundance of “outdated” (for lack of a better word) event shirts.

I was awarded one also.  I am contemplating using our Meet Me At The Lake event as mine.

Will this be the last “cold” day of the winter?

sure hope so!!!  Can’t wait for warmer weather 🙂

and this is also a request from hack1of2

John Sudar Message #1: Whatever clothing is ordered, my own preference is for a small WGA logo, like what is pictured on the *front* of that orange hoodie. I don’t really care for the huge logos on shirts and sweatshirts. On t-shirts, the vinyl logo can sometimes be so large that the shirt isn’t very breathable in summer. But I keep buying them! 🙂

No photo description available.I’d like personally to promote the WGA more this year with WGA pathtags. Like get 40 or 50 or 60 and drop them in caches. I had considered just creating/ordering my own WGA pathtag and dropping them here and there, but the more I think about it, why not see if there are others who would like to bulk purchase WGA tags for cost, with the understanding that they are primarily intended for placing in caches. They’re only about $1 each if ordered 100+. It would be cool to get some non-board members on “board” with this. Please consider a bulk pathtag program for those who would be interested in promoting the WGA this way. Another committee! 🙂

Not sure why people won’t run for BOD. It’s not hard. It just requires a little bit of effort to think outside the box and always keep the membership as #1 priority. We only have 4 on the ballot with 5 open positions.

I agree with Dawn it really isn’t hard.  And you are never alone in what you do.  The rest of the BOD is there to help even if it is something you volunteered to do and run into a snag along the way.  It would be nice to have at least 2 more people run so we can have a real election.  Don’t be afraid to give it a try.  You might be surprised at how easy it really is.

Since there aren’t any topics here yet, I thought I’d ask….what is the vision for the kind of discussion that might happen here?

We now have a link to the oldest caches in WI and was asked for a forum for it also.  I thought they had something to share in the forum but still waiting………..

As I said before I do not think BOD members should receive a stipend but if a member feels they want to do a little something extra for our wonderful organization, remember we have a donation box.  Your donations and purchases allow us to continue to do things for the members!!

11/06/19 FTP FOR WEDNESDAY TRAVELING TO A FEW CACHES THIS MORNING BEFORE THE SNOW FLIES THIS AFTERNOON/EVENING.

Too late for that here.  We have a couple inches and it’s still coming down.

Ha! I emailed an inactive cacher who’s had one of my personal geocoins for over a year. She/he responded in dismay…had asked her kids to drop it in Alaska while on a cruise. When questioned about it, it was found out they had no cell reception so it came back home with them. After searching around, it was found in their car’s glove and will be moved to a cache soon. They were very apologetic about it but such is the life of trackables. Another mystery happily solved:)

That is awesome!  Love happy endings (or should I say new beginnings)!!

Whereas, WGA Board members are expected to spend a tremendous amount of time on official duties and at meetings and attending events and incur significant personal expenses in doing so (travel, hotels, campsites, materials, etc.). We thereby propose that an ad hoc committee of the five soon to be retired Board members be formed to examine whether some sort of expense stipend could be provided when Board members are expected or required to be in meetings or at an event. The five members, who will not benefit from any recommendations, will examine whether members would want to implement such a plan, what the stipends might be, and how any approved stipends would be funded.

I agree that BOD members do spend a lot of time on official duties and incur personal expenses to attend meetings and events but I also do not think they should receive any expense stipend.  As far as I know WGA has always been strictly volunteer and I think it should stay that way.

FTP for this stormy Thursday morning.

No storms here yet. Quite cloudy however. I can however see pink in the east from my office window view.

I think the rain is finally letting up here (hopefully)
