Recently at work the “powers that be” decided to move an area from one building to another.  This decision was made a hour before quitting time and had to be completed the same day.  Needless to say it wasn’t quitting time for me!!  A couple of us stayed late and did what was necessary to get the job done and have everything was in place for the following day.

I think the WGA today still plays a big role in todays geocaching world.  The WGA State Park series is an excellent example of how the WGA partners with land managers to promote geocaching.  The majority of the WGA events have cachers present from most areas of the state so I feel the WGA helps to connect cachers across the state.  Without the WGA I think the people attending events would be from a more localized area. The WGA continues to educate land mangers, law enforcement, geocachers and muggles.  This education is important to the future of geocaching.

Even though there are many regional Facebook pages and a WGA Facebook page members can still visit the WGA website to plan outings and keep in touch with others.  I must say the social media sites do make it much easier to keep in contact with others with the chat feature.  I remember when we first got cell phones we did not text but it seemed that was the only sure way to get the kids to answer!  Now we text and used social media.  I guess you have to keep changing to keep up with the times.  Kinda like the song says, “make new friends (social media sites) but keep the old (WGA website).  I think even though it is harder to piece everything together with the numerous online formats, both are necessary.

I believe I can “go the distance”.  I thought it over carefully before deciding to accept the nomination.  I wanted to make sure that I could fulfill my obligations.  I am a firm believer in what ever you do always try to do your best and that is what I will do if elected.

I attended my first WGA event in September of 2009 and have been to many of them since that time.  As for the forums I read them frequently but do not post very often.

I’d have to say a sturdy oak or a maple.  Love the shade offered by them in the summer and the colors in the fall.

Quads – We love getting out on the trails in our RZR and have even hidden caches on the ATV trail system.  When placing these we did keep in mind that not everyone has access to an atv so the majority of them are only a short distance from a main road so anyone can search for them.

Recommended for kids – We enjoy taking our grandkids with us and like to see the enjoyment on their faces when they find a cache.  They love it when it has swag they can trade for.  We own a couple caches that were placed specifically with kids in mind and we try to keep them stocked so kids can trade treasures when they find the cache.

Teamwork required – Many of the caches we find require teamwork.  I have many pictures of me sitting or standing on someones shoulders in order to reach a cache so teamwork is a must.  Not only that it is a lot of fun caching with a group.  A lot of good chat and you learn a lot from each other.

Tourist friendly – We love going outside our area to find caches so of course tourist friendly is a must!!

Campfire –  Telling stories around the fire is a great way to end the day.

No Ticks – Absolutely hate these little buggers.  I try to spray my clothes with permethrin if I know the area is loaded with ticks

Scenic view –  Who doesn’t love an awesome scenic view 🙂

I bring a positive attitude, enthusiasm and hard work to the table.  A positive attitude goes a long way and even in the worst case scenario there is always something positive to be found.  I am normally very positive thinking and try to spread that positive thinking to others even though that sometimes is a very hard task.  When things don’t seem to be working as they should we all need to work hard  and brainstorm the problem and solution.  All ideas are worth pursuing.  Who knows an idea that you may think is dumb may open the way to a solution to the problem.

We enjoy hiding caches for others to find but seeing as we currently have 158 hides (including events) and almost 7500 finds I would have to say I am more of a finder than a hider.  I love the many places we travel to make the finds and the wonderful people we meet along the way.

                            Team work

It is hard to pick just one attribute because so many of them are important so I guess I will choose team work.  The reason being, it takes everyone to make a strong organization.  You can get much more done in a lot less time working together.  We will accomplish much more as a team versus as an individual.  Any organization is only as good as its members.

Also recently acquired the Wisconsin Coulee Region Cachers coin.

Could you post a picture of the Wisconsin Coulee Region Cachers coin please?

That’s what I had originally used to set up and load my first Nuvi too using the old version of GSAK. The old version of GSAK isn’t supported any more though and I don’t believe these instructions will work with the newer version. There are newer macros that make the process more efficient however.

I use the new version of GSAK and that is what I still use.  Works for me.  I have tried other macros but can’t get them to work the same way.  What macro are you using?

I need a step by step on how to do this. Today I was very frustrated by an impromptu road trip and being the driver, I couldn’t tell if a cache was a multi, traditional or what, by what was on the Nuvi.

This is outdate but it is what I used to learn how to do it:  http://geocaching.williamsonnetwork.com/index.html
