If elected to the Board my plan is to attend all of the events, after all that is one of the requirements according to the by-laws.  In the event of a conflict due to work or family obligations I will do my best to be at the event.  I already know that the weekend of the spring campout is the weekend we arranged to set our camper up for the season and I have already addressed that issue. And of course I will do what is necessary to make the event successful.

I would prefer to just be Board member the first year so as to learn the ropes, but if nominated to fill an officer position I would give it my best shot.

As a board member I feel it is our duty to get the job done.  And more hands does mean less work, thus being said, I am willing to help when and where I can.

Our first WGA event was the 9th annual WGA Geo Picnic held in September 2009 at Lake Wissota, in fact, this was our first geocaching event ever.  I remember feeling awkward as we knew very few people ( I was definitely out of my comfort zone!!)  but that feeling didn’t last for long.  We were welcomed by all.  Looking back, it is hard to believe I felt uncomfortable.  Today when we go to a WGA event we feel excited to catch up with those we haven’t seen for a while and it is always great to meet new people.

I happen to belong to a few of the different regional facebook groups and it is hard to keep up with all of them.  I am not trying to encourage just the regional groups but I think since many of us are on the different regional groups we should make sure we post links to the events on these pages also.  The more we “advertise” the events, the more people will see them, and hopefully this will mean more attendance.

I also agree with Walking Adventure that smaller regional WGA sponsored events is a great way to keep the group together.  It is also a great way to grow the group.  The more regions we cover the more the WGA is known.  To know us is to love us!!!

Spending time with our children and grandchildren is right up there at the top of the list for me.  Many of you have seen us at an event with a grandchild along for the fun.  Besides caching we spend quite a bit of time camping.  We rent a sesonal campsite and spend the majority of the weekends there.  We even host an annual event, Meet Me At The Lake, at the campgrounds.  We enjoy kayaking and boating.  We used to spend a lot of time fishing but not so much anymore but I’m sure one day we will wander back towards it.  We also spend a lot of time off road on the 4 wheeler trails in our RZR4.  Summer time is just to short to do it all as much as we like.  Winter time finds us mostly geocaching and snowshoeing.  We also like to drive randomly around the back roads finding awesome scenery.

I do not have it on mine.  I had it on some of them, but I believe if memory serves me correctly, that with the new website you must redo the logo on the cache page.  I advertise the WGA frequently by all the WGA apparel I ahve bought.  My WGA shirts and hoodies are my favorite items of clothing 🙂 and many times people have questioned what it was all about!

#1:  WGA is a great bunch of people who help to “pave the way” to make caching easier in our great state.

#2:  Friendly bunch of people who are always willing to help.

#3:  Fun, family friendly events and everyone is welcome.

We have had both but I was much more connected to our dog so I guess it is safe to say I would pick puppies over kittens.  Either way your pet is pretty much life a member of your family 🙂

With 9 different personalities on the board, your opinion may not be the one chosen by the group. How will you handle this? Can you tell us about a time this has happened to you?

Your opinion doesn’t have to always be the chosen one.  The whole idea of having a group is so you can bounce ideas off one another.  Many times this discussion leads to a new idea that wasn’t thought of at first.

…and those less enjoyable tasks (like washing dishes or typing up event descriptions), how do you feel about spending your time doing these things while everyone is off caching or socializing?

We all enjoy caching or we wouldn’t be here but those less enjoyable tasks need to be done also.  The more that help the less time it takes and I am willing to do my share.

How will you handle having to lead something that is outside your comfort zone such as talking in front of a large group or coordinating a pancake breakfast for example?

None of us like to be outside of our comfort zone and it is really hard at first but the more you do it the more comfortable you will be doing it.  Stepping out of our comfort zone helps us to grow.

I bring a lot of enthusaism to the party.  Geocaching is a fun hobby/sport and I talk about it all the time and encourage others to try it.  I am always willing to help a fellow cacher, whether they need help with a hint or their gps or even GSAK.  I may not be the most educated about the different technology devices but will try to figure out and help to the best of my ability.  I learn many new things by trying to help others solve their issues.

Hi everyone – Wondering what your favorite types of caches are and what you enjoy or would enjoy most about about serving on the board of directors.

I like finding any type of cache but my favorite type of caches are traditional caches in scenic locations and I love creative containers.  Serving on the board of directors would be a great opportunity to meet lots of people, give back to the geocaching community and visit many places in our great state.

There was one particular cache in the file that caused the error message. That cache was http://coord.info/GC3B219 Once I deleted that file from GSAK everything worked fine. This is because the file name is not understood by the Nuvi so to include that file in my download I must rename the cache something else before I export it to the nuvi. So glad this issue is finally resolved [Smile]

We had the same problem. Changed $ to dollar and then it worked fine.
