South Dakota, because a good portion of my family lives there.
In my opinion, they made a mistake by approving the McDonald’s, Wal-Mart, and Subway categories. Isn’t that what the store locators on their respective sites are for?
Try uploading just the .gpx file.
People who do that are only ruining it for themselves.

The ones in the Worldwide category are listed by Groundspeak.
I don’t think that even Groundspeak should be able to issue non-location specific challenges. It even says that the basic premise of challenges is to “go somewhere, do something”. I can do most of the world-wide challenges that have been listed from my house.
In my opinion, they should just delete all of the world-wide locationless challenges altogether.

I’ve thought of these exact scenarios also and they scare me.

Photo: Go to these coords and you’ll find a steel post in the marsh. Take a picture next to the post to verify you were at the right spot.If you make one like this, it’s not like it has your name slapped on it. You don’t own it at all.
How many flags does a challenge have to have to be deleted?
I have come up with a couple of things that could improve challenges…
– Get rid of world-wide challenges. Challenges, like caches, should be location-specific.
– Use an ownership system like the one used for caches.
They should have started by posting some decent challenges, then I’m sure they wouldn’t have half the problem that they do now.
This seems more like geocaching than those new challenges. 🙂
The ideas to “reverse the site update from August 18th” or “remove challenges” either get declined or deleted from the feedback page completely.
Challenges are counted as finds, but by hovering over a users’ find count you can separate challenges from caches. Personally, I don’t like these at all. They don’t seem to have to do as much with location, if you know what I mean… when you’re posting a challenge, you don’t need to post actual coords, you can just put in an address. To me, this is not geocaching.
Did itsnotaboutthenumbers get taken off the web?
