The only confusing part, besides all the construction in Eau Claire, would be in Lake Hallie where to stay on 53 one must turn off the road they’re on (by Shopko and Walmart, for those that like landmarks).

Coming from the east, I think the signs on Highway 29 direct one to take X to K to O to the park.

The bypass is scheduled to be done this September. Considering the rate they’re moving dirt around, if there aren’t any significant weather delays, I bet they’ll be done around that time.

the park is pretty well posted. I didn’t have any trouble finding it after my GPS told me to drive across the lake….lol

your synopsis sounds good….takes all the adventure out of people missing the turn by shopko in Lake Hallie though lol

in reply to: City Select and Mapsource Topo for navigation #1740518

I tried using topo maps to auto route with my 60cs when i first got it…..lets just say I wasn’t happy lol. Most of the time it would get me within 10-20 miles then tell me to go cross country….and since my 2wd s-10 doesn’t like swamps too much, that wasn’t going to work too well.

the City Select software is great though. the only problems i’ve had with it is in the lake hallie area, where they’re adding the hwy 53 bypass…..which is understandable since those are new roads.

on a side note, i wonder when that bypass is going to be done.

I like using the pda. I didn’t have to get anything beamed to me though, because of the prepublishing of the cache information.

i just stack ’em up along the side of my windshield…..redneck style

It sure did seem to streamline the registration process. Maybe the same set-up (with the early posting of temp. caches) could be used for the campout. We could preplan our attacks….then when we get there, completely go a different direction.

in reply to: What GPSr do you have and why do you like it? #1749427

I’ve got a 60cs…..i love it. Its the first gpsr i’ve had, so I don’t have much to compare it too personally. It has loads of memory, the screen is really good, durable as all get out (so far). It better be good for what it costs though lol.
