Hi all. I have met wonderful people along the way as well have seen places I would never have seen. Oh, I have also reached in places that I never would have and lifted things up that I would have shied away from before geocaching. Who else climbs a tree 30 feet in the air just to sign a log book? Or, who would climb a boulder mountain just to find an ammo container. Can’t explain it….just have to do it!

ooooo, there have been so many fave places. Although it is an eerie one, my favorite place to date was revealed yesterday. The cache site is called zzzzz ( http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?guid={96A01953-1DAD-47EB-8FBE-A 556EB1A98A0} ) and located in the Ledge View Nature Center.

Some users might not care for images on the cache pages because of the added paper it takes to print out the cache page.
But if you still want images on your cache page, I’ll try to explain:
    1. You have to place an image where it can be accessed, and seen, each time the cache page is viewed. One place to store an image is the photo album found on WI-Geocaching web page. http://wi-geocaching.com/cgi-bin/slide2/album.pl Follow the directions on this page for uploading images.
    2. Once the image has been uploaded, you have to figure out the ‘address’ for the image. Go back to your photo album, click on the picture you want to include so that it appears in the browser.
    3. Right click on the image. Choose ‘properties’.
    4. In the ‘General’ properties look for ‘Address (URL). It will look something like http://img.groundspeak.com/user/display/85278_600.jpg.
    5. Copy that URL.
    6. Now, go back to the cache page into which you want to place the image. Go into editing mode.
    6. In the editing box type
    7. You have to include the greater and lesser signs as well as the quotes. The information between the quotes is the URL of the image you located in number 5 above.
    8. In the editing section of the cache page, place a check mark in the box infront of the words ‘The descriptions below are in HTML’
    9. Save the new cache page.

Phew, that got to be longer than I expected. There may be a quicker way.

Suppose I want to add my home coordinates to the spinner file automatically. Anyone help with that?

in reply to: GPX spinner #1745873

[If you like gpx spinner, take a look at Cachemate 3.0. This is software for a pda. The cost is $7. It is worth the price. http://www.smittyware.com/

After copying the html referred to in the previous post, go to your geocache page in which ypu wish to add the logo. Go to the edit feature and place the cursor where you want the logo to appear. Paste the html in this location. Then, within the editing page you should find the following. ‘If you do supply html you will need to check the box below for the text to render correctly.
The descriptions below are in HTML ‘. Make sure to check this box. Save the edited page.
It is simpler than it sounds.

[tongue in cheek] RU saying this team has no cents? (argh!)

I enjoy caches that were meant to be found. The trip to the cache whether it involves driving on country roads or walking along forest paths is a bonus. When a cache introduces me to an area that contains vistas or a nice surprise is another bonus. Clues that enable short safe searches help protect the environment.

This segment of the Ice Age trail is most enjoyable, I found plenty of benches on which to rest, if they were needed. The traile is well marked. The trail itself is not steep.
