I don;t think I do anything special. I usually generate a GPX file about three times a week. Use Spinner to make html files and rename the caches from hexidecimal numbers to abbreviated names. Then I load the revised gpx file into mapsource. Somtimes into expertGPS if I need to check out topography or other maps. I load the file into the pda using plucker as well as Cachemate 2.0. Cachemate allows me to edit caches and make notes. Sometimes I print out a map of the closest caches within a set distance. I go to the neaerst cache. Then use the GPS generally pick out the next closest cache, etc. Before going to each cache, I check out the information on the pda. If the cache has not been found a couple of times in a row, I sometimes skip it, depending on the information. Without the PDA I would have to make way to many hard copies. I guess I have way to much time on my hands……
Way to go.
At work….ooooooo. Yes, I am a premium member, but I don’t think that makes a difference.
hmmm. Really? I don’t seem to be having any trouble….for once.
Way to go Ray and Helen. Now, on to the next 500!
Issues are discussed here. http://ubbx.groundspeak.com/6/ubb.x?m=39860087&a=tpc&s=5726007311&f=8016058331
Last post is from JeremyYes, an error showed up when logging finds, but they were logged on the cache page. The email on ‘send email’ isn’t working…..
My favorite caches were located in oklahoma! All of them were in a boulder field. One was on top of a mountain, yes a mountain in Oklahoma!.
Thanks, Ray! I touched on the 500th doing Cheesehead Trivia. I figure I put on about five miles. Poor planning on my part. I found the 500th cache at 5:00 PM about 5 days after my birthday. Coincidence? You betcha’.
Hmmm, Would it be appropriate to ask the “locals” for a list of suggested caches to find?
Way to go! It seems that you are one of the first to congratulate others….now it is your turn to receive kudos.
A tick it is- then it gives me great pleasure to press hard on the power on switch of my Garmin!
Thankls for taking the time to show us the barracks. Great meeting others, as always.
…and the entry fee is…
Gee! Sounds like a lot of preparation – but that is part of the fun, err game! I download a pocket querry from geocaching dot com covering the radius of my search. Then use spinner to create a custom gpx file. Then use plucker to install into my pda and expert gps to install the custom search area into my garmin V. Usually takes about five minutes.
