Cache was found within 350 ft. from the parking lot. A month or so ago we went to this same park and that cache was on the other side of the same parking lot. I could have leaned out my car door to retrieve it.

In my mind these were both “lame”. There was no adventure, no hiking, no challenge. In the mind of others, these were both nice, easy finds.

I can think of more than a couple of caches that were not more than a couple hundred feet from my car that I would consider “lame”. However the cache that I did that was at an artesian well was right next to the parking area. I enjoyed that cache because of the attraction that it was high-lighting.

I would enjoy a five mile hike through the woods for a plainly hidden cache. Others, not so much perhaps. To each his own.

What a wonderful time to spend with your son. Fifteen miles of ‘me time’. Time to chat about the events in his life. Time to share family values. Time to discuss things that are important. The Geocache was just a means to to an end. In the end, it shouldn;t have been the geocache – it should have been the time with family.

    Do you

    A. Always cache alone
    B. Always cache with others, be it family or new found friends?
    C. Some of both?

    Why?

Really, I do not mean to sound as if I am a curmudgeon, but, why does it matter? I cache because…..I choose the caches because….I choose the type of transportation because….I choose to eat a geocaching lunch at, well, Culvers because of the better butter burgers.

My goal is not to have a goal……Shucks! Looks like I exceeded my goal. I never was an over-achiever. Too many expectations. I found that the under-achievers were the ones who always went to the movies.

Right! The price of fuel may have limited the search area. So, we are left to our own forms of entertainment. So far, I have hidden three geocaches in my yard. Couldn’t locate the one in the rocks! In another, the gps-r readings were 30 yards off! In the other, I couldn’t get a reading because the batteries had worn down.

It had been a long, expensive ride to Point Beach. I had stopped by a roadside quick loan stop in order to arrange for a full tank of gas. Once on the road, with a full cup of strong ‘truckers’ coffee suddenly a deer appeared off to the side. Then my mind flashed back to a previous thought…

The deer remained where I had seen it. We were both safe.

Early the next morning, I thought back to the original quest. The under water quest beckened me again and and again….
