Please join us at the WGA Pre-Picnic CITO Event (Cache Page: GC2CWF5) at Burt Morris Park in the City of Adams, WI. The CITO event will run from 8 – 10 am. We will have free Coffee and Donuts and bottled water for all attendees. The hosts for this event are sandlanders and -cheeto-

The pre-picnic CITO event continues the WGA’s efforts to sponsor or host regional CITO events around the entire state of Wisconsin.

If we don’t make it right at 8am can attend this “event” any time during that 2 hr time span. I’d like to get the boys involved in it as an act of service, but I’m not quite sure we’ll make it over as a group by 8am. If not, we’ll have to put CITO events on the back burner until the little guy is older. (which is fine. I’m looking forward to more of these types of events as teachable moments for them.) Thanks for the clarification!

Like Walkingadventure, I had no idea when we signed up for this thing called geocaching that we’d be signing so many times…

Our name has to do with the fact that I didn’t want our family to get so caught up in geocaching that we forget where our treasure really lies. I know it’s a hard name for some to type (or it looks rather foreign) but the main thing was for us to be reminded every time we sign a log…

R (our) Trezrs (treasure’s) N (in) hvn (heaven)

I’ll have to go look up what RT is an acronym for so I can see if we should sign nanos that way… although I don’t have the patience to roll them back up. I appreciate them, but they aren’t my fav kind of find…

Often I sign now either WalkAdv or at events (or long caching days) I drop down to WA.

We sign nano logs SL, so if we were given to short online logs, we could say SL SL. Always wonder why people are thanking us for caches we didn’t put out or telling us what they did at some cache we had nothing to do with. You know, those ones that say: TFTC SL and TNLN SL 😉 😆

    rtrezrsnhvn is rofl… 😆

Congrats from our team too… only 1000 more for us to catch up…. actually 997… just haven’t logged the ones from yesterday 😉

Great job & Congrats! Glad that little ammo can incident wasn’t a spoiler for the weekend!

thank you so much for posting this and sharing it. I’m glad you are ok! I have a very curious 9 yr old that loves to be the first one to open a cache so this warning will not go unheeded….

so, so, sorry that you had to experience it though. I hope tomorrow brings calmer finds 🙂

Here is the attendance list thus far and who is bringing what to share.

If you do not see your name or what you will be bringing on this list I will be updateing the list & sending it to labrat 1 or 2 times a week.

do we need to commit to the exact something that we will bring?… our last name starts with G so we are supposed to bring something “dessertish”. I had put down cookies or something sweet, but I see there will be plenty of those (cookies). I’m a planner generally, but I’m not sure I can plan out my baking that far in advance :)….I’ll commit to something with apples – muffins, a crisp, bars, etc… since I believe I will be having an abundance of them from the tree in our yard starting like NOW….

No nothing exactly to commit to briging…just a general idea.

sounds good then I’ll shoot for something sweet with apples 🙂

Thanks Jim… and I tried not to put any spoilers in the log other than it’s really going to “test” your thoughts about what you think you might or might not know….

    now get busy 😀

Nice group work for the find, rtrezrsnhvn! Believe it or not, we haven’t found Flat Jack anywhere, although we have met him at an event. We want to go on a road trip with him, though, so maybe the next time we head east… You’re lucky to live in Flat Jack’s neighborhood. And we never knew about Invisible Stanley…

Anyway, Congrats to all of you on find #100. Here’s to many more together!

Funny thing Mrs. S is that my son had not read about Flat Stanley (and I had), but he had read about Invisible Stanley.. and yes he does disappear with a thunderstorm one night…..

If you come this way to find FJ, you need to let us know.. he really is “in the neighborhood.” (more ways than one based on the query I just ran ..)

thanks everyone for the encouragement here. I know each of you has trekked many more miles and the skills are much sharper, but I know you all appreciate the journey to get to where you are… even if it’s .1 of a step of the way 🙂

and CJ…was hoping you would like the log…thanks for understanding our “pain” ;)… I’m also starting to feel like a puzzle junkie.. just made up a query in our area and was trying to figure out how I can incorporate more in to our experience. it will take some good Mom diversion skills (and a whole lot of snacks) to get those done…

    @CodeJunkie wrote:

The individual caches are OK, it’s only the final that got retracted. The challenge for the placers is going to be to recraft the final to match the values published in the field, or change all the caches in the field also to match a new final. I’d opt for only fixing the final and find a way to make it work.

In this case, I’m guessing there were some shenanigans going on. If they listed the final coordinates accurately it would never have gotten approved. My only guess is that they published a “bogus” final just to get it approved.

The statement about a new cacher placing is very true. It’s much tougher in an area like Appleton where there are many puzzles that you have to get a handle on. My first caches were in areas that I knew were outside the 2 mile radius for any puzzle, but I’m in a way more open area. Even today I’ve asked other cachers about general areas before thinking of a placement just to confirm I’m not going to bump into someone.

interesting theory.. I suppose there are no repercussions for turning in the bogus numbers….

Sometimes my 503 month-old comes out caching with me. She sits in the car most of the time and either reads or naps. Occasionally she will jump out for a P&G, and if coaxed will come along on the trail. I do have to feed her around lunchtime or she gets crabby. Usually lunch is followed by another nap, especially if it’s a little warm in the car.

Whoops, misread the OP, my comments were about the spouse and not the kids.

    rofl 😉
