ok I see it was only the final… curious about a total retraction… no trace of it ….hmmm
oh, need to check that out for us too… we are planning on hitting #100 this weekend and I don’t know how that will impact it. Is it any different than for one that’s archived?
I wondered when that one published about it having issues. Pretty bold to have 12 caches ready to go, when you’ve only found about 30 yourself. I don’t feel comfortable placing 1 without really scoping it out vs making up a puzzle and then posting TWELVE!
thanks for the heads up!
We have a three yr old that still naps. During weekends, dad and his older brother will sometimes cache without us. Sometimes we all go out together and then we take it for as long as his tolerance level allows. I always pack his potty and a snack. We just returned from a vacation up north and I specifically targeted caches with a lower terrain and difficulty level to keep us out of areas that weren’t safe for toddlers. I actually had 2 loaded that required a proximity to water that I avoided. We’ll get those when he’s older. We did however do some multi’s that I was happily surprised that he was fine with.
I’m getting smarter about looking for attributes. If we are going to keep up this hobby as a family then some of the harder stuff will have to wait.
For Swag, we take the traditional stuff and it’s cute because my older son (9) will sometimes specifically take something just for his little brother (bouncy ball, car, whistle) and won’t take something for himself. He knows that the gift will make it more fun for his brother.
At home we try to only do a few a night/day and we end with something he will enjoy like a trip to a park or a visit to Culver’s. I can’t wait to do more intensive cache’s but for now we are in a season of taking it slow so as not to ruin the experience for all of us. It’s working and he will even ask some nights “Mom can we go geocaching?” so he’s enjoying us being out as a family. I’m anxious to see what back to school and winter hold for us since we just started in June.
Enjoy it.. we decided that this was a family hobby, so when it’s no longer fun, we’ll stop. I’m looking forward to hiking trails with my teen sons some day and sharing this for a long time when they’ve turned my hair completely gray 🙂
Congrats Jim! lots of ground covered in 2700 I’m sure. I’m thinking of using you as the example for my FIL as he needs hip surgery..I think he really wants to geocache, but needs the surgery first (yesterday he went and found the cache that my husband fell from the tree for… which was actually missing the day we looked for it… 🙄 ). I think it would be great therapy and fun at the same time. Keep up the good work and thanks so much for all the great placements in our area!
Had I known you guys were that close, I’d have invited you over for a celebratory “cookie”! (I had one or two to share…)
Congratulations! Well done!
I appreciate the insight. Just wasn’t sure what to expect or not expect from it. THX!
because I’ve not experienced this before… does it not go back and re-harvest the whole log or it just picks up where it can?..
ie.. I know that some new caches published this week (Weds I think). When I use the filter for “publish”, the cache I’m thinking of isn’t there. (I like that feature so I don’t have to run a query to see new caches. I just filter and look through the new ones for the day.)
not a huge deal but it makes me wonder what else is missing?
Great article! (cute little one too… I have a playmate for her at the picnic :)…)
still not sure if we’ll make this one… and Glorkar’s map makes it even scarier to think about…
hubby lost a day of work with his little “tree” incident and he’s coming home in the thick of this so I’m not sure we’ll make it. It will be a last minute decision….

Think the update broke the WGA log harvester again…
I thought something didn’t seem quite right about that
Amazing… congrats on another 100 under your belt to get to 1400!
Yes congratulations by all means! and I really did have a little something for you this morning as we trekked for the FTF ourselves. If I had known that today was going to be a milestone day for you, I’d have certainly figured a way to get it to you 🙂 (if the container had been big enough I was going to leave it there with your name on it ;)…) (it’s something between a lottery ticket and a gc to the Starry place)
Congratulations!
Welcome Tiff from another caching family. We cache with our 3 yr old and 9 yr old. The 9 yr old goes along on every find (typically during nap time for his little brother.) I started the sport for him mainly and now Dad is pretty hooked too!
I’m thinking of it as a sport that our whole family can do together until we are all old & gray! (and heck I don’t have to do a single fundraiser or buy a uniform)

I thought bridges were off limits.
pedestrian/bicycle bridges, not car bridges…
Duh! Don’t know why my mind went straight to car bridges, I have found several troll caches under pedestrian bridges.
and I’m pretty sure here in Oshkosh those are now underwater :(….saw one of them blocked off Sunday coming home from church…..
