The “Lonely Cache Game” and the “Cache Rescue” missions are closely related. Caches on the cache rescue list are put on the lonely cache list.
The Wisconsin Lonely Cache Game awards points so it becomes somewhat competitive, but it’s competition for a very good cause.

I knew the LCG had points but didn’t pay much attention to the cache rescue list. I didn’t figure this was a rescue at this point anyway.

Anyway – Splash, I sent you a pm earlier this morning, just let me know if you want me to give it a whirl.

I was only joking, but can certainly help out if needed. If you’re going past here to school it would be way easier for you than it would be me.

i just have to budget time for two boys that hear the word “park” and think they can get out and play. Trying to remember where the play equipment was at this park. I think it was in standing water when were there last summer…

‘Splash, the cache rescue module has a “maintenance request” type.

So if I supply the “xxx” container I can get 10 points? SWEET!!! 😉 😆 😯

darn – why did I let RT4 talk me out of stopping for this… we were within eyesight of the park a few mins ago… he said something about lunch…blah, blah, blah

My last cache in Oshkosh, GC13FAF has apparently walked off. Looking for someone I can send a container to who could make a run over there and replace it.

    thanks

It’s on my way to and from school so the boys and I could do it one afternoon.

I appreciate the feedback. I didn’t mention that I had pm’d the CO in the last week so they knew we were on the hunt. In spite of my email and several others finding the traditionals, they haven’t logged into gc in a while and did not respond to my pm. I knew the NM would force it to be archived at some point if they don’t get involved. I don’t do a NM unless I know for certain that something is amiss and it clearly is with this one.

I don’t know the original location of the hide as gz has several potential locations that look appropriate but don’t go with the clue in the write up.

I will talk it over with Mr. RT at this point based on the feedback and go from there.

I did get the impression from one of the other convos about logging that “signing” has gone by the wayside in spite of the verbiage. I think I also read this in the GC forums.

    Thanks again!

Speaking of cache owners who think they can delete logs because of the quality of the logs, here is a current discussion thread on the groundspeak forums: http://forums.groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=272739

(Note: I do not endorse cut-n-paste or no-content logging)

can I just say that I’m thankful that everyone on this board is a whole lot friendlier…. yikes – almost hateful atmosphere there.

thanks for sharing the link cheeto.

There’s a cache here in Cedarburg that’s inside a coffee shop, GC33A5, Puzzled In Cedarburg, You have to ask the cashier for “the can”, and its a puzzle you put together, upon successful completion of the puzzle, you get an individual code to post onto the log to prove you did it. It’s only open during business hours obviously, so I don’t know how this got published according to the above rules, but its a unique and fun idea.

looks like it was grandfathered according to the bottom part of the posting. looks like fun actually 🙂

The field trip I was supposed to go on yesterday also had one that led you inside at Mosquito Hill… trip got cancelled, but I remember reading the log.

Wondering if the CO that deleted Zuma’s log at least heeded the warning and took it down/archived it as well?

I’ll admit that I wouldn’t delete a log just because it says TFTC or anything similar. I would agree though that deleting logs that are spoilers (sorry Zuma but yours would probably fall in this category along with one I recently saw on a Sloughfoot cache that said “behind the sign”). I would ask the cacher to change these before deleting them though allowing them the opportunity. In Zuma’s case I probably would have sent the CO a personal message instead, but that’s just my method (your mileage may vary).

    {< .

I cannot worry too much about posting a spoiler for cache that needs to be spoiled. If someone places a cache on a postal box, do not expect me to keep your little secret.

I’m kind of surprised at the jutzpa (sp) of that hide. You can get in trouble for opening/putting something in a personal mailbox that’s not yours, so this one takes some guts.

I was approached by a couple of cachers in the area however regarding the concept making logging even easier though. The concept was attaching a QR code to the container so that it could just be scanned in place of signing the actual log.

heck then you won’t even need p/g’s – just do a drive by…no stopping required.

aren’t they coming out with credit cards that you need little to no swiping to pay for stuff too?

just watched the movie WALL-E again with the kids the other night… we are getting closer to that society that’s depicted. We’ll do so little without electronics that our legs and bodies won’t function.

For the most part I’ve decided to skip placing crappy P&G caches for the number hounds (disclaimer – I have one but it’s supposed to be “scenic” depending on the time of year). I have many caches that are only done by a few people and that’s fine by me. These same people generally don’t do multis, puzzles, anything with T>3, or anything more than 200′ from the parking area.

This is an interesting point as I hadn’t thought about that aspect, but that is something I look at for us if RT3 is along. Because I never know if water is around or what the terrain truly is, I do tend to look at those a little differently and may avoid them. I’m in awe of how Kungfuhippie has taken his littles on some pretty interesting journeys – we just haven’t crossed that threshhold yet. Hoping as he gets older, we can expand our terrains.

I am not sure if I still qualify as a newbie, I just passed my year anniversary two weeks ago. I still feel like I am learning a lot about the sport though. This thread has me thinking and I’m glad you said something because I hadn’t really thought about it before. There are times where I have written a short novel for my logs but there are also plenty of times when I have done the “TFTC” only. Usually I write a couple of sentences. After seeing this post I think I may try not to do the TFTC-only thing any more. However, is it really so wrong on those caches that are simply for the numbers? You know the ones I’m talking about, like the film cannisters hidden in the guard rails in the city with no spectacular or historical view or anything. ❓

I’m pretty sure most here, would agree there are some that really are TFTC.
