I think he might have enough pent up caching energy that he just might get another 100 before the 23rd! We shall see.

    Thanks for the suggestions Ralph.

I grew up on the Mississippi and spent time on both the Eau Claire and Chippewa when I was a little older (high school and college). I was thinking more for destination caches by canoe. Gotta get that Fizzy Challenge done sometime! Thanks for the suggestion on the Flambeau though, I might just look into that.

Thanks to everyone with suggestions. It helps out a lot.

I’d love to be specific, but I’m not really sure yet. 😆

I was thinking somewhere centralized like a Wausau or Eau Claire type of area.

Thanks for the responses, guys. Now, another question: Do these places put the canoe in for you and expect you to use it on a specific body of water for a day or so? Or can you transport the canoe yourself to where you want and then bring it back afterwards? say a period of 5 days

Big ups on this one! Wow….I’d like to complete just ONE Delorme Challenge. polish cutie and I MIGHT get close after this summer, but I think we’re still at least another year away.

Wait a minute….the ER? I haven’t been to the ER in a few years. Here I had some hope that it would be a few more before a return trip. 😆

    I couldn’t resist

Would there be a problem having a WGA CITO held the same day as another WGA CITO event?

We (the local cachers in Racine/Kenosha) were looking into having one in Racine on April 23rd. I see that the Appleton CITO is the same day. We had planned it for earlier, but the park and rec gave us a deal on a shelter with running water if we had it on Earth Day.

We talked local caching legend (is there such a thing?) brkster into listing the event…you know, to give it a little star power. However, our local coffee/geocaching group, the Belle City Coffee Clutch is splitting up the responsibilities.

I’m hoping by “deal” you’re implying the shelter is being provided free — if it’s in the park your cleaning. I’ve never paid rental on the shelter when volunteering to clean. Downside of that is you take what you can get but in Appleton, I’ve never ran into much “competition” in terms of shelters already being reserved. And the high-demand shelters tend to be in parks that aren’t recommended “targets” for cleanup by the park and rec.

It was more of an issue with the running water/bathroom issues that they asked us to have a bit later than we were planning. Yes, they gave it to us free of charge.

    Whoops wrong thread.

in reply to: Goals for 2011 #1941156

Get a few more Delorme Pages and Counties
-A trip to the SW part of the state in March and hopefully a camping trip to the NW part of the state in the summer will help with that

Get a few more caches for the NW 12-pack Challenge.
-A trip to Menomonie in late April will hopefully help with that.

Get a few more caches for T&B’s How Hungry? Challenge
-Won’t be many, but polish cutie and I will try.

    Work on the 4-corner Challenge.
-I’ll get the SW corner and hopefully the center.

    Add a few more states.
-A (cross my fingers) trip to Washington D.C. will do the job.

Keep plugging away at the Unique Natural Features Challenge.

Keep plugging away at the Dedicated Cacher Challenge. It gets harder as I deplete my local bank of caches.

No number goals. I’m over 1000 and I never thought I’d even get to this point. I just want to quietly work on some challenges and visit some great caches along the way.

Local cachers from Oak Creek, Racine, and Kenosha meet EVERY (well, almost) saturday at place in Racine called Wilson’s Coffee. We gab for an hour or 2 and sometimes some of us go out caching afterwards, but many times we do not. Our group is often around 15+ cachers and it’s a great time. The shop owners have been good to us and have even sponsored T-shirts that we often wear to events around the state.

Heck, even TJSAAVERDA comes down once and awhile from Wisconsin Rapids! 😉

Anyone that caches and might happen to be in the area is more than welcome to join us at N42 43.124 W087 49.138 OR 3306 Washington Avenue, Racine, WI from 8am to 9:30am

Oh yeah, we might also be willing to hold an event. 😆 We were going to be there anyways.

Season of reflection!? 😯 I don’t know about you, but I want to be too busy caching this winter to reflect. 😉 Bring on the pain!

in reply to: Deer Hunting and Caching #1938818

Hunting by day, maybe a few caches by late afternoon/night. Also, for sure a couple caches on the way to and from the hunting grounds. (nice way to break up a 4 hour drive from Kenosha to La Crosse area)

Now that football is done I might be able to help you with that tree! Let me know a day and time, I can help after 4pm until dark.

Aye, double the chili rations this year! M&Ms and chips were good, but chili would have been great! 😆

-Any of the Jethro Thull series by Table 4 6 should be a good bang for your buck.

-I really liked A Point to Ponder (GC28RQW) by TJSAAVERDA

-Where Did I Park My Car? (GC7F54) IS REALLY COOL, but the final is a ways out of Kenosha, and you have to find 2 other caches first….on of which is a 5 stage multi.

-I also suggest 404 Cache Not Found (GC22X5R). I really like that one.

-A shameless plug for one of my own caches Community Park (GC1P41P)

-END OF THE ROAD CACHE (GC1KCC9) by tom k.

-Any of tom k.’s numbers serieses (LOL) should be good. He spends a lot of time with maintenance, so they should be there.

-brkster also has a series or 2 out there that shouldn’t be too bad on time. Just be ready for a pill bottle assault 😉 right jeff?
