I’ve made friendly observations in some cache logs that tip off an owner, new or otherwise, to something they would want to know about. Same with getting some logs for our caches that let me know that something might not be as intended. At times, I may send a cache owner (or finder) an e-mail if there’s something that I’m not sure about or can’t be put in a log for others to see, or if it’s something about one of our caches I want to check on. Both have worked for me, and the private communication has almost always led to an opportunity to share other things and get to know another cacher better.
I agree with being grateful for those who place and maintain caches. There sure are a lot more than when we started geocaching, and a lot of variety for searchers to pick from, or bypass if a certain cache or type of cache isn’t for them that day. Not everything we find turns out to be inspiring, but it is still a find. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.
Fair treatment of caches, and rehiding them as intended, or even replacing a wet, full, or damaged log at times, are good ways to show our gratitude for all the opportunities out there. Some, but not all, may take us to a suberb or scenic location, or give us some great ideas in the design of the cache container, or enlighten us with something we never knew much about in a puzzle, or maybe not. There is a vast smorgasboard of hides out there, and that is a good thing for all the different tastes in the game.
We only have fifty-five caches out, and that is enough to keep us pretty busy keeping them in great shape, which we like to do for our own. It’s good to see so many new hides pop up, and the creative efforts of those who bring their own ideas and style to the opportunities for all of us. Thanks to all who have or take the time to place them.
Congrats on the 3K DOC.! And thanks for your caches as well; our whole family enjoyed your “Subterranean Slug Fest” earthcache in Winona just a week or so ago.
Congrats on the milestone and the wild side adventure, Mark and Pat! Great log and photos, too! I remember that one well, but didn’t have the sound effects of the elk like you did. Well done! Great fun and memory!
Congrats on the big K! Great milestone to hit!
Where have all the players gone? Yikes, they were lurking there all the time from the feel of the cleat marks on my back here at mid-month. And it wasn’t even a runningadventure this time….. yet. 😯 Now the only thing I need to figure out is how many other caches you can report twice besides (GC15F6F). 😉
Thanks everyone, and also Annakido for placing (GC1F6ZX). It was a perfect milestone for the family, in spectacular terrain. Chasing and finding this multi together was a real thrill for all of us, and a great memory to share.
Love those tongue-in-cheek adjectives as well as the thoughtful medical advice. Good to have such playful friends!

😯 x 1000. That’s a lot of signing!
Wow, 500! Congrats. Time to give ’em a break! 😯
Congrats on the find and the milestone! Looks like one we’d like to get to as well.
Congrats on the 300! But all the way to Lake Ontario? Wow! 😯 😉
That is indeed quite a pace out of the blocks! Congrats; dont run yourself out of caches to do! 😯
