Congrats Marc! BIG number. I know 5000 won’t be far away now – will come faster if you take a break on putting out any more puzzles. Again, congratulations on the 4900!
It would be wonderful to get one. I fell in love with the one that I referenced in my post which was destined for Alaska. Were you able to read the strange story of its trip there and back by accident?
Congrats, Hemi, on the #800! Good to see you back to getting those numbers moving and look forward to seeing you on the trail again!
10/21/2007 at 7:54 am in reply to: Coastiegirl04 Breaks into the Thousandaire Club!!!!!!!!!!!! #1880487CONGRATULATIONS, Lindsey! Been waiting for you to make that move. It’s good to see you achieve that great milestone! Was there a special cache for the occasion?
Still looking forward to getting to meet you on a future trip to Trivers and checking out some more of your great hides as well.
When rsplash40 had 21 FTFs in two days this summer he kind of laid down an FTF challenge and egged me on with the chase for being the first guinea pig on some new caches. It’s been fun to go for them and have the chance to discover something really unique or interesting that you haven’t heard about before. There are also hazards like being the first to not find and the first to look for longer than one should when an eager to publish owner hasn’t yet had the time to put the container out. Then there are those wonderful 1.5 terrain caches that turn out to be in a newly formed swamp due to heavy rains that no one could have believed possible at placement.
And just in case any stat might go to ones head, there are humbling moments to consider, like when I was sitting next to zuma! at the WGA geopicnic this summer when, in a friendly conversation, he asked me how many I had. I told him I had 80 something at that point and, of course, asked him how many he had…… Enough said. It is a great adventure and always good to keep the proper perspective as you go. Thanks for the nod and all those new caches!
CONGRATS AGAIN, Lisa and Dennis! I’m in these forums almost enough to catch up to your every other milestone now so congrats in advance on 2600 for now. Good news: INATNS tells me I might get to 2500 in mid-2009 now so if you take a break……… Hope to get together again soon when you are standing still. I know I won’t recognize the blur as you fly by.
The reviewers say that it’s o.k. to log your own caches for any good reason. I have one that I logged before the family moved and asked me to adopt it so it is kind of funny when it comes up on maps with the star for an owned cache and a smiley face for a found cache as well.
In the case of “Spirit Rock” anyone who maintains that cache as the only one in the county and takes on the responsibility of communicating with the tribal personnel to keep it there in good standing should be able to log it to get that county done.
I have also seen a number of collaborations naming multiple partys as owners logged by other owners whether they placed the container or not, so it seems a common practice, maybe not for the numbers (that would be a lot of work to get extra finds), but perhaps to get them off their closest to home searches and still be able to keep them on their watch list. l am contemplating doing that with one that is close to home that I partnered with someone on part of.
Congrats on that awesome numbe and great finally meeting you at the Names and Faces a week ago!
A BIG Contratulations on #700 Mike! I know you’ve have distractions with your move to new digs but am glad you finally took the time to get out and knock that number down. Very nice series to do it on as well! Well done big guy!
A BIG congratulations to both of you. Great choice for a milestone cache over at a beautiful park. I’m going to be there Saturday myself, but have 52 miles to go before I can go for that one. Well done!
Congrats again, Giz! Good to get out with you a couple times for that near-record month in September and to get two tough ones done together on one day. Let’s get out again soon. Listening to Sylvia was a real fun change of pace for me. Well done!
O.K., so I haven’t been visiting the forums as often as I would like, but you are a big part of the reason. Always have to get a jump before you get out of work or it’s STF for the old guy here. I know you are always lurking nearby and look forward to seeing you every time we meet, besides the nearly daily mail. Congrats again to you and the whole two team family; I know the next one is coming up soon enough. Well done!
Awesome job, Ralph! Sounds like it was a great memory as well. It has been a real pleasure to meet up with you on the trail and at events, to enjoy your good humor, and to chase your caches along the Yellowstone Trail and elsewhere. Look forward to seeing you every time we meet, as you are a real positive force in this great community of geocachers! Thanks, and congrats again!
Way to go, Justin! Sorry I missed out on this one while I was chasing some of your caches to make up some ground myself. We MUST get out again sometime without having to chase after Marc! Well done, and hope to see you again soon!
You two hit the new milestones faster than I can check the forums so belated congrats on the last 300! Incredible pace that I can only imagine keeping up with someday! By now I’ve given up on the strategy of getting out with you to slow you down. Sorry, everyone, I’ve tried. Big congrats again to a great team I’ve come to regard in a special way!
