The DeLorme Challenge has never really interested us. It is based on a commercial atlas that can change at any time, and it has. While there is now a way we can track our progress on the newer WI challenge, we’ll have to drag out our tattered version that is needed for the original DeLorme and check it out page by page, if we want to do that.
We like going for the counties better because counties are more definitive units than pages in a map book. Each county has its own distinct character, and when we “claim” a county, we have a good idea of what there is to see and do there.
Yes, the cost of gas is a factor, but caching and traveling around the state is how we spend our leisure dollars, and we plan for it. We hit caches in other states when we travel, but we won’t go for any challenges in any of them that require multiple trips. Wisconsin’s where it’s at for us! 😀
Congratulations on find #(2^5)x(10^2), Mathman!
The last couple of newsletters have had different and smaller fonts for the events and the newly published caches. The big difference is that they list very few new caches. Ours used to show all caches within 100 miles published that week, and this week went out to less than 30 miles. Not even sure if everything was listed in that range or not.

Pete, you’re a class act with or without any culture. Congrats on the 2800 finds! 8)
(Your singing might be all the culture from you that we need!)
WHAT??? There goes my plan for the exploding volcano night cache!
😉

We have a coffee pot in the Hauler. We pulled it out at the last minute at Pike Lake last fall. That should be covered, and thanks for the reminder!
Selfish on my part. We weren’t going to pack our usual full load of gear for this event, and if we didn’t pack the camp stove, I was wondering where Mr. S could get his morning fix of coffee on Saturday… 😉
But if it’s chilly, it might be nice to greet those registering or checking in at home base with a hot cup of coffee. 😀
Maybe not so preliminary since the campout is looming imminently but…
Does the WGA keep a coffee urn going Saturday morning during registration? Kind of like a hospitality/wake-up thing? I know there will be coffee along with the pancakes and other goodies on Sunday morning. 😀
Thank you for all the congratulations here on our recent milestone. We cache just as much as we want to… no more, no less… and we find caches we like to find… locally, all over Wisconsin, and in many other states. All of this adds up to 2500 memorable finds for us, and we’re looking forward to finding many more caches put out by some great cache hiders.
And not one of those photos with our milestone cache log was photoshopped! That fish was real! 😉
Congratulations on the 4000 finds!
I don’t know, but they took a course and received pieces of paper upon their completion.
GR8 EYES and Dr. Doolittle became certified beekeepers recently.
Congratulations on the 1000 finds!

SL prefers to do her geo-stalking the old fashioned way.
I’m sure someone could do something with GSAK and macros to make geo-stalking easier… 🙄 🙄 🙄
Bad idea. No. No.
